  • Patent number: 9906281
Abstract: A Multi-User-Multiple Input Multiple Output (MU-MIMO) transmission method performed by an Access Point (AP) in a Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) system is provided. The method includes transmitting an MU-MIMO initiation message to a destination Station (STA) which is a target of a MU-MIMO transmission, the MU-MIMO initiation message informing that MU-MIMO transmission will be initiated, receiving a sounding frame transmitted by the destination STA as a response to the MU-MIMO initiation message and performing MU-MIMO transmission on data by beamforming based on channel information obtained from the sounding frame. The sounding frame includes precoded and virtualized channel information between the AP and the STA. A dimension of the virtualized channel information is lower than a dimension of channel information between the AP and the STA.

  • Patent number: 9882626
Abstract: A method for non-orthogonal transmission of a signal intended for a system with N sources, M relays and a single receiver, in which simultaneous transmission over a single spectral resource by the relays is simultaneous with a transmission over a single spectral resource by the sources. The method includes, for each relay: joint iterative detection/decoding of messages transmitted respectively by the sources during first transmission intervals to obtain decoded messages; detecting errors on the decoded messages; interleaving the detected error-free messages, followed by algebraic network coding including a linear combination, in a finite field of an order higher than two, of the interleaved messages to obtain a coded message, the linear combinations being independent, in pairs, between the relays; and channel coding to generate a signal representative of the network coded message and to transmit this signal during the subsequent transmission intervals simultaneously with a transmission by the sources.

  • Patent number: 9866701
Abstract: A method for telephony includes receiving at an Internet telephony service provider a subscriber request to place a call to a telephone number. A cache associated with the internet telephony service provider is queried to check if the cache holds a record for the telephone number. If the cache holds the record, the record is obtained. If the cache does not hold the record, a request is sent to a database server that maintains a database of records associating endpoint user terminal telephone numbers of subscribers with respective packet network addresses of the endpoint user terminal. The call is placed to the endpoint user terminal telephone number via a public switched telephone network while the request is sent to the database server to retrieve the packet network address of the endpoint user terminal to which calls to the telephone number should be placed.

  • Patent number: 9848369
Abstract: Various embodiments include a device processor that may monitor a data loss from a broadcast data stream received by a radio frequency (RF) resource of a multi-subscription multi-standby (MSMS) communication device using a first subscription. In response to determining that an amount of the monitored data loss plus an amount of expected data loss from anticipated tune-aways to a second subscription and a third subscription does not meet a first data loss threshold, the device processor may determine whether an amount of the monitored data loss plus an amount of expected data loss from an anticipated tune-away to a third subscription meets a second data loss threshold. The device processor may prevent the tune-away to the third subscription in response to determining that the amount of the monitored data loss plus the expected data loss from the anticipated tune-away to the third subscription meets the second data loss threshold.

  • Patent number: 9826571
Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure provide for configuring and managing mesh nodes during occasional failure of mesh nodes or addition of new mesh nodes. The disclosed system first determines whether a mesh node is a mesh portal or a mesh point. If it is a mesh portal, the mesh node will advertise its capacity as a mesh portal to other mesh nodes in the network. If it is a mesh point, the mesh node attempts to automatically recover connection to the wireless mesh network if it identifies a unique wireless network based on its associated network identifier. If more than one network identifiers are discovered, the mesh node delays establishing connection to the wireless mesh network until a selection is received.

  • Patent number: 9763145
Abstract: Packet data protocol (PDP) contexts are managed upon cellular-to-femto handover, wherein femto network has disparate capabilities to support applications with distinct access point names (APNs) and quality of service (QoS) profiles. Based at least on activity factors of applications associated with PDP contexts, a QoS-based ranking of PDP contexts, and subscriber input, cellular network platform selects active PDP contexts to retain and suspend upon handover. A group of active PDP contexts is handed off in accordance with femto coverage capability, with remaining active PDP contexts suspended during handover. When a suspended PDP context, and application associated therewith, is resumed through femto coverage, a PDP context modification is conducted with a new APN and the application is routed to a corresponding femto gateway node and application server. Additionally, femto network platform performs a radio access bearer reconfiguration to meet QoS requirements of the resumed PDP context.

  • Patent number: 9722758
Abstract: This invention provides a method for a first communication device, such as a base station, to estimate a channel-quality profile of a channel when a second communication device, e.g., a user equipment, returns only channel-quality indicators (CQIs) of selected subbands and a wideband CQI. The profile is obtained by including, for any two neighboring frequencies of the selected subbands, an estimated CQI of a middle frequency between the two neighboring frequencies. After translating the CQIs of the two neighboring frequencies into corresponding linear CQI values, a linear estimated-CQI value for the middle frequency is determined by subtracting an offset from an average of said corresponding linear CQI values. The offset is determined according to a frequency separation between the two neighboring frequencies. Preferably, the offset is linearly proportional to the frequency separation. Interpolation, preferably linear interpolation, is used to obtain linear CQI values of other frequencies.

Abstract: A method for providing information by optimizing the data rate to a vehicle over a three-phase power line utilized to provide power to the vehicle is described. The method includes assigning three separate frequency bands to three respective conductors extending between a ground power system and the vehicle, generating carrier signals in three separate frequency bands and modulating various data onto three carrier signals to generate three transmission signals for sending the various data from the ground power system to the vehicle at frequencies within respective ones of the three separate frequency bands. The frequencies for each of the three separate frequency bands do not overlap one another. The method also includes switching the three transmission signals onto respective conductors of the three-phase power line, demodulating the various data within the vehicle, and providing the various data to one or more vehicle systems.

  • Patent number: 9648523
Abstract: In a handover operation an access terminal is handed over from a source access point to a target access point. To facilitate efficient identification of a target access point, a handover operation may be initiated by the target access point. A candidate frequency search also may be invoked to confirm that an access terminal identified by a target access point for a handover is in the vicinity of the target access point. A source access point may verify whether an access terminal is in a vicinity of a target access point to determine whether to perform a handover operation. A source access point may handle potential ambiguity between several target access points by sending handover commands to each of these target access points. An access terminal also may assist in the determination of whether to perform a handover operation.
