  • Patent number: 3941087
Abstract: A resin coated steel pipe is produced by forming the pipe from a band using forming rollers, welding the seam, inserting a paint sprayer which coats an anti-corrosive coating on the inside wall of the pipe, applying an adhesive on the outer surface of the pipe, and applying a layer of the synthetic resin over the adhesive layer. The paint sprayer includes a gun-pipe which protrudes through a stack of ferromagnetic cores, which cores are water-cooled and are used for welding the seam.

  • Patent number: 3937177
Abstract: An improved toner fountain and recovery system for an electrostatic printing machine includes a fountain and supply arrangement for applying fluid toner material to a surface of a web of print material passing across the fountain and a vacuum-operated recovery head disposed to extend transversely of the path of movement of the web and in a manner whereby the recovery head removes toner from the surface of the web. A column of toner fluid forms a fluid head in fluid communication with a flow passage coupled to the recovery head in a manner permitting the height of the hydraulic head to establish the degree of vacuum applied to the recovery head. A valve operable between open and closed positions retains the head of toner responsive to arrested movement of the web so as to close the valve and retain the head of toner while the web is at rest.

  • Patent number: 3931786
Abstract: Method and apparatus for evenly coating a moving web of material with a predetermined amount of a liquid and characterized by simplicity of design, uniformity of application of the liquid and accurate control of the amount of the liquid applied, as follows. Mechanisms are provided for supplying and feeding a web of material in a longitudinal path of travel at a predetermined speed. A coating roll is positioned for transverse rotating contact with one surface of the traveling web of material and includes a covering of soft, uniformly and highly absorbent material for receiving and uniformly absorbing the coating liquid and for transferring and uniformly coating the traveling web with the liquid. An open top pan is provided for continuously receiving the coating liquid therein. The coating roll rotates within the pan for contacting and continuously absorbing all of the coating liquid within the pan above the level of the coating roll.

  • Patent number: 3931788
Abstract: A shoe machine having nozzles for applying adhesive progressively to the margin of a shoe bottom, in which the nozzles are moved heightwise to engage a guide of the nozzle with the edge of the shoe bottom maneuvered by an arrangement of piston and cylinder members, and a sensing device associated with a stop mechanism for control and guidance to enable the nozzles to follow the marginal contour of the shoe bottom to apply adhesive thereto, and thence to return the nozzles to their start position to begin another cycle.

  • Patent number: 3932052
Abstract: A roller attachment for dump trucks has one or more road rollers mounted on a shaft which in turn is carried on the end of a pair of hydraulic piston and cylinder assemblies mounted on a beam positioned transversely of the truck and detachably secured to the frame thereof. Actuation of the hydraulic piston and cylinder assemblies from the hydraulic system of the dump truck moves the roller toward and away from a road surface so that when the roller is engaged on the road surface and the truck is moved forwardly and backwardly the roller will compact materials therebeneath.

  • Patent number: 3930740
Abstract: A method for forming non-repeating stone patterns in fresh concrete including preparing the surface of the fresh concrete by bullfloating and the addition of color, if desired, imprinting into the fresh concrete indentations representative of the corners only of the stones in the pattern, imprinting separately connecting grooves between the imprinted corners. The method may further include the use of a plastic overlay on the fresh concrete prior to imprinting so as to provide a well rounded edge to the formed stones. A number of tools for forming the non-repeating patterns are also disclosed.
