  • Patent number: 7068247
Abstract: The invention provides a display device and an electronic apparatus that incorporates the display device. The display device has drive control signal lines to control driving circuits and others thereof in a predetermined site of the substrate to thereby increase the effective display region of the surface of the substrate. The display device is free from, or is protected from, external influences on the drive control signals that pass through it. A predetermined matrix pattern of a bank layer and a recess region of which the recesses are spaced from each other with the banks adjacent thereto of the bank layer, are formed on a substrate. A real pixel region for display and a dummy pixel region not for display are formed in the pixel region to be a display region of the substrate.

  • Patent number: 7064731
Abstract: The invention corrects display faults due to the disparities between the phosphors of a display device. The correction is carried out by image processing. The invention provides a method for displaying a sequence of video images on a phosphor device comprising at least two types of phosphors together with the device comprising the means for implementing this method. The correction is carried out by computing an intermediate image between two successive images, then by displaying one of the two successive images on one type of phosphor and by simultaneously displaying the intermediate image on another type of phosphor.

  • Patent number: 7030849
Abstract: An LCD controller (10) has a DMA unit (18) and a FIFO memory (20) for storing display data. The LCD controller also has a display data generator (26) that generates display information using a line of the display data stored in the FIFO memory in accordance with a predefined algorithm. A holding register (28) is connected to the display data generator and stores the generated display information. A multiplexer (34) selects for display either the data stored in the FIFO memory or the generated display information. The generated display information is selected when there is a bus overload indicating that the data stored in the FIFO may be erroneous.

  • Patent number: 7006063
Abstract: A display unit includes a transparent hollow tube member, and a display liquid sealed in the transparent hollow tube member. The display liquid includes a liquid and at least one kind of charged or non-charged particle dispersed in the liquid. An image formed by a display device including the display units is kind to the eye in the same way as printed matter, and does not cause eyestrain due to flickering of emitted light.

  • Patent number: 7002538
Abstract: A liquid crystal display according to the present invention includes a gray signal modifier connected with a frame memory outputting and storing data by a burst mode. The gray signal modifier receives a gray signal of current frame from a data gray signal source and stores it in the frame memory by the burst mode, and reads a gray signal of previous frame stored in the frame memory to generate and output a modified gray signal in consideration of a gray signal of current frame and a gray signal of previous frame. Data pins and instruction pins of the frame memory share buses interfacing with the gray signal modifier.

  • Patent number: 6992647
Abstract: An input side drive current of a D/A converter circuit is controlled by a switch circuit connected in series with at least one of a plurality of input side transistors connected in parallel to form a current mirror connection. By turning the switch circuit from ON to OFF, a constant current flowing through the input side transistor, which is turned OFF by the switch circuit, is distributed to the remaining input side transistors, resulting in a large D/A converted current in a current mirror connected output side transistor. Thus, it is possible to correspondingly reduce a value of a display data, so that the number of bit positions of the D/A converter circuit can be reduced by 1 or more.

  • Patent number: 6961050
Abstract: An apparatus and method for preventing noise in a touch screen using a predetermined number of gates that substantially eliminates noise in advance and reduces cost includes an analog-to-digital converter (ADC) which converts received analog source data into digital source data, and sends the converted data. An input detection signal generator generates and sends an input detection signal containing information on a period from when the ADC receives analog source data to when the ADC finishes the conversion. A noise-preventing clock generator receives the input detection signal, generates a predetermined clock signal, and by referring to the information on the period contained in the received input detection signal, during the period from when analog source data is received to when the conversion is finished, disabling the generated clock signal and sending the clock signal. During the remaining period, the disabling is released and the clock signal is sent.

  • Patent number: 6897836
Abstract: A method of driving a display panel. Weights of all subfields and combinations of light emitting subfields for respective gradation levels are determined to reduce the number of subfields of which light emission states change between two adjacent gradation levels. A plurality of field display sequences are provided such that the combinations of light emitting subfields at at least one gradation level are different from each other between the field display sequences. Fields are sequentially displayed by changing the field display sequences every time a predetermined number of fields of an image signal are displayed.
