  • Patent number: 8072658
Abstract: Since many ICC profile generation tools print and measure a large number of color patches and then make profile generation calculations, profile re-generation requires a long time. Hence, patch data are generated, calorimetric values corresponding to the patch data are obtained. Reference values of an Lab color space, which correspond to the patch data, are calculated using a conversion lookup table from a CMYK color space to the Lab color space, which is included in a profile. A conversion lookup table from the Lab color space to the CMYK color space, which is included in the profile, is updated using the calorimetric values and reference values.

  • Patent number: 8064083
Abstract: A method and graphical user interface for selecting pad printing functions for an image output device. The user interface is provided to a user and displays a pad printing dialog box that enables selection of pad printing output. Selectable pad printing options are displayed, which include the number of sheets per pad and the total number of pads to be output. When the user selection of pad printing and pad printing options are received, the total quantity of sheets to be output based on selected pad printing options and organizing the sheets for pad printing output from the image output device are automatically determined. Availability of pad printing is determined based on finishing options selected.

  • Patent number: 8059313
Abstract: A pattern producing unit performs arithmetic on values of pixels corresponding to a pattern and a basic pattern read from a data storing unit with an AND operation unit, and thereby produces a pattern having substantially the same shade level as the pattern. The latent-image-containing image producing unit produces the latent-image-containing image by selectively combining the pattern and the produced pattern according to the values of respective pixels of mask image data read from the data storing unit for producing a latent image.

  • Patent number: 8054510
Abstract: A document reader comprises line sensors that are staggeredly arranged and read a white reference plate to obtain a white reference read value A, and a white reference average value AA is determined from value A for each line sensor. The line sensors read another white reference plate placed on a document support plate to obtain a white reference read value B, and a white reference read average value BB is determined from value B for each line sensor. A sensitivity effect coefficient C for each line sensor is determined by dividing BB by AA. Using the line sensors, there are obtained a document read value E for each line sensor by reading an illuminated document on the document support plate, a white reference read value Aa by reading with the white reference plate before reading the document, and a black reference read value D by reading the white reference plate under a condition that an illumination is turned off before reading of the document.

  • Patent number: 8035865
Abstract: An original size detecting apparatus is capable of carrying out accurate original size detection without erroneous detection of the size of an original due to the influence of external scattered light. A CCD reads reflected light of light irradiated from a light source onto an original placed on an original platen glass. Optical sensors detect two open states of the original presser plate, and a scanner controller performs predetermined control corresponding to each of the open states of the original presser plate detected by the optical sensors, to determine the size of the original based on the result of the reading by the CCD.
