Abstract: An electric light having a housing enclosed on the top and back end by a pivotable cover. The cover is hinged at the back upper corner of the housing sidewalls. A bulb and socket assembly is secured to a flange extending from the cover interior. The flange conducts heat from the bulb and socket assembly to the cover for dissipation into the atmosphere. When the cover is lifted by rotation about the hinge connection, the assembly will rotate with the cover and be readily accessible for repair or bulb replacement. For additional cooling, the cover back end is spaced from the housing to permit a flow of cooling air past the bulb and socket assembly.
Abstract: A corner pole device for vehicles comprises a drive mechanism by which a pole assembly vertically telescopically movable with respect to a housing thereof disposed at a corner part of a vehicle body is driven to expand and contract between an expanded position and a housed position. The corner pole device further comprises a control means for automatically controlling the drive mechanism to thereby drive the pole assembly into a telescopic action, depending on a detection signal from a mechanism which detects the travelling condition of vehicle.
Abstract: A dipped headlight for a motor vehicle, capable of generating a dipped beam situated beneath a generally horizontal cutoff, the headlight being of the type comprising a lamp having an axial filament (100) emitting light freely in all directions thereabout, a reflector (200) having an axis (Ox) extending beneath the axis of the filament and parallel thereto, said reflector also including a surface without discontinuity, and said headlight further including a closure glass placed in front of the reflector and suitable for spreading said beam in a horizontal direction, said headlight including the improvement whereby the reflector includes two diametrically opposite first quadrants (201, 202) whose surfaces are at least approximately two portions of paraboloids having focuses situated in the vicinity of respective axial ends of the filament in order to generate filament images which provide light concentration situated beneath the cutoff and offset sideways relative to the headlight axis, with the other two quad
Abstract: A lighting system includes a plurality of elongate tubular members joined together in a selected array, each tubular member carrying lamp assemblies therein and aimed laterally through apertures in the wall of the tubular member, the lamp assemblies being captured within the tubular members by coupling means enabling rotation of the lamp assemblies for aiming purposes and selective insertion and withdrawal of the lamp assemblies through corresponding apertures for removal and replacement of expended lamps.
Abstract: A portable sauna-bath jacket includes a one-piece jacket, a hot-air supplier, a cooling-water supplier, and a sequential timing device alternatively controlling the delivery of either a hot air or cooling water stream into the jacket for alternatively warming or cooling a bather for taking a sauna bath directly in the jacket for convenient, economic and hygienic purposes.
Abstract: An improved electric torch or flashlight of the type having an elongated case, a bulb and a battery source of electrical energy is disclosed. The flashlight includes a pressure-receiving surface, which may be in the form of a series of flexible segments formed of case material at an end of the case, a pressure-transmitting surface, which may be in the form of a nib at the end of a right-angle bend formed in the flexible segment, and a complementary surface, which may be a portion of the bulb. Radial pressure on the segments results in a longitudinal displacement of the complementary surface, which controls closing of the electrical circuit and illumination of the bulb.
Abstract: This invention relates to a mat-type entrance lamp to be placed before the front door or gate to facilitate a person to unlock the door or gate in the dark. The lamp comprises a lamp base, a mat member and a switch platform. The lamp base has two through holes and a battery room for batteries to supply energy to the lamp. The mat member has two posts with bulbs to fit in the said through holes, and a recess with a contact projection and three rubber supports which are higher than the projection . The switch platform is sized to fit in the said recess and has a contact plate on the bottom side. The batteries, bulbs and contact plates are connected with cords in such way that when a person stands on the platform, they will make an electric circuit and the lamp will go on.
Abstract: A self purging dual fuel injector has a valve which is pressed down, as opposed to lifting, to provide a pilot charge to the combustion chamber. As the valve further extends from the injector the pilot fuel flow is cut off and coal water slurry flows through the valve to the combustion chamber. During shut off of the slurry the retracting valve allows a shot of pilot fuel to purge the valve passageways.
Abstract: The invention is concerned with a headlight for automobiles the interior cavity of which is ventilated with a tube filled with a desiccative. The tube is guided into an opening at the rear of the reflector and is fixed into place by means of a screw lock. A socket-like cover, exhibiting a ventilation hole, is locked into place and pushed onto the end section of the tube which protrudes out of the opening on the rear of the reflector. The socket like cover serves to protect the tube filled with the desiccative against contamination and flooding.
Abstract: Housings for high intensity lamps are assembled from extruded elements interlocking without fasteners. The assembled housings feature longitudinal ventilation slots for convective cooling of the fixture. The ventilation slots have grooved edges for receiving mounting hardware which can be continuously positioned at any point along the housing.
Abstract: A vacuum condensor with a condensate trap consisting of a horizontal cylindrical housing with a neck has two bottoms which are closed by covers, and inside the housing there are mounted heat-exchange bodies. Externally of the housing there are connected a deaeration device and a condensate pump. The heat-exchange bodies can be either pipes or plates.
Abstract: A heat exchanger includes an insert having a plurality of longitudinal flutes disposed about its periphery defining flow passages of enhanced surface area. The insert includes at least one slot and expansion means so that the insert can be inserted into a duct without press fitting and subsequently expanded to urge the flutes into intimate thermal contact with the wall of the duct. Removal of the expanding force permits the insert to be removed from the duct for maintenance.
