  • Patent number: 8768273
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for detecting forward power sent to an antenna and reflected power reflected back from the antenna. Embodiments of the present invention provide systems and methods for measuring forward and reflected power and controlling the amount of power supplied to the antenna responsive to these measurements. Embodiments of the present invention enable the power sent to the antenna to be dynamically altered when antenna impendence changes (e.g., when the antenna gets too close to another object).

  • Patent number: 8755830
Abstract: Spectrum that will become venue-protected in the future is made available to radio devices by a central control system with which the radio devices requests spectrum access information for use in wireless communication. The central control system establishes a re-request time duration specified in an amount of time that will elapsed at or before the spectrum becomes protected. The elapsing of the re-request duration serves as a command to the radio device to transmit a new channel request to the central control system.

  • Patent number: 8676241
Abstract: The selection range of antenna candidates effective for MIMO communication is widened in a base station to increase the throughput of MIMO communication. A terminal sends a sounding signal at given time intervals with the maximum transmission power or with an antenna selection transmission power threshold or larger. With this transmission, since the number of antenna candidates that receive the signal is increased at a base station in the distributed antenna system, the radio propagation channel state between the terminal and the base station apparatus is checked to select the combination of antennas having good orthogonality. Before the terminal sends the sounding signal, the terminal reserves beforehand the transmission timing of the sounding signal or performs carrier sensing to determine whether a surrounding terminal is sending a signal to avoid the collision/interference of packets of sounding signals between terminals.

  • Patent number: 8649816
Abstract: The wireless communication system is configured to adaptively change a status report (SR) cycle and a discontinuous reception (DRX) cycle on the basis of a quality of a radio link between a terminal device and a network device. When the quality of the radio link is good, the DRX cycle or the SR cycle is lengthened accordingly, and when the quality of the radio link is poor, the DRX cycle or the SR cycle is shortened accordingly. Furthermore, when the quality of the radio link is good for a long time, the power consumption can be significantly reduced by turning off the terminal device, and after a certain time, turning on the device.
