  • Patent number: 10151151
Abstract: Techniques and systems to reduce deflection of a riser extending from offshore platform. The riser may be coupled to a seafloor and may experience movements due to, for example, currents. A riser restraint device may be utilized to reduce these movements of the riser. This riser restraint device may be coupled to the seafloor. This coupling of the riser restraint device may aid in allowing the riser restraint device to reduce movement of the riser and, thus, reduce deflection of the riser.

  • Patent number: 10107418
Abstract: The disclosed subsea clamp tensioning system includes predictability of gasket pre-load to input closure and allows a subsea clamp tensioning system to be closed and made-up without the hindrance of frictional loads that will cause a loss of tension in a drive screw. In an embodiment, the subsea clamp tensioning system tensions the drive screw by applying a set torque load into an API class torque bucket which translates into an applied tension at the drive screw. The tension load on the drive screw applies the gasket pre-load required to create a metal-to-metal seal between the two clamp hubs. Once complete and tested, the subsea clamp tensioning system may be removed and mounted onto a connector tool for retrieval to the surface.

  • Patent number: 10094078
Abstract: In a cold planer, a rotor housing partially enclosing a rotor may have a rotor housing side wall with retention plates defining a space in which a rotor housing side plate disposed so that the side plate can translate and rotate relative to the rotor housing. A pair of side plate lift cylinders may operate to vary a vertical position of the rotor housing side plate and a rotation of the rotor housing side plate about a horizontal axis relative to the rotor housing. The cold planer may use information from one or more distance sensors to identify contours in a work surface over which the cold planer is propelled, and actuate the lift cylinders to adjust the position and orientation of the rotor housing side plate to closely track the contour of the work surface and substantially prevent ground material from escaping from the rotor housing.

  • Patent number: 10082025
Abstract: The present invention relates to an open pit mining system. The system includes a material lifting machine configured to both: (1) excavate and remove overburden from an open pit of a mine; and (2) excavate and remove valuable material from the open pit. Advantageously, the machine removes the overburden waste material as well as the mined valuable material which would otherwise be conventionally removed by trucks in the pit, out of the pit up the ramps and then onto the processing plant. Accordingly, the use of trucks for transporting valuable material both along and up out of the pit is at least to some extent reduced thereby resulting in improved cost and energy efficiency.

  • Patent number: 10024020
Abstract: Apparatus for making foundation pilings includes a lead section with screw threads, at least one extension section, and a bit carried by the first of the extension sections. The bit slides onto the first, lower end of the extension section and is operable to compress the soil laterally to the extension sections and form a lateral groove in the soil. Grout fills the annular region of the hole bored by the apparatus including the grooves for lateral stability. Each extension section is formed to fit into the next one and to be secured to it by lateral bolts. The bolt heads prevent the bit from moving vertically as the lead section advances into the soil. Bits may be added to increase the size of the opening bored.
