Abstract: A guide structure is provided for guiding deployment of a pipeline from a hang-off structure through an opening in a vessel during a J-lay operation. The guide structure comprises a port-side guide assembly and a starboard-side guide assembly for engaging and guiding the pipeline below the hang-off structure, wherein the port and star-board-side guide assemblies are independently moveable to engage and guide the pipeline. The guide assemblies may be mounted to traverse on rails provided within the opening.

Abstract: A deep-sea mining device is sunk to a seabed mining area. A window of an exploding wire unit of a pulse exploding wire group is aligned to an exploding area. A strong pulse current is applied to an exploding wire of the exploding wire unit by an intense pulse power supply, and the exploding wire of the exploding wire unit and seawater in an exploding wires area are vaporized to generate shock waves, thereby breaking rocks through the impact of the seawater. The instantaneous high pressure causes the shock waves to crush the ore bed, and the pressure of the shock waves generated by the explosion of the exploding wire can be controlled by controlling the pulse voltage and current, so as to control the crushing head to crush rocks with different thicknesses.

Abstract: The offshore jack-up has a hull and a plurality of moveable legs engageable with the seafloor. The offshore jack-up is arranged to move the legs with respect to the hull to position the hull out of the water. The method comprises moving at least a portion of a vessel underneath the hull of the offshore jack-up or within a cut-out of the hull when the hull is positioned out of the water and the legs engage the seafloor. A stabilizing mechanism mounted on the jack-up is engaged against the vessel. The stabilizing mechanism is pushed down on the vessel to increase the buoyant force acting on the vessel.

Abstract: A machine for extracting a ductile pipe. The machine has a vise which can grip the pipe, and a wire clamp. Each of the wire clamp and vise are supported on a carriage which is movable relative to a frame. This enables the vise to grip and pull the ductile pipe. Additionally, a wire strand may be disposed through the pipe from a far end to the end at which the machine is placed. The wire clamp allows the machine to pre-stress the strand to improve the extraction of the ductile pipe.

Abstract: A method for retrofitting a wind turbine foundation is provided. The foundation comprises a first substantially elongated pile (31) in the ground. Abstract: Provided are a concrete foundation structure capable of firmly fixing a precast concrete foundation to a ground, and a method for constructing the concrete foundation structure. A concrete foundation structure 10 includes a precast concrete foundation 16 having a projecting portion 30 embedded in a ground G. An anchor plate 20 is placed inside an excavation hole 18 formed in the ground G, and the precast concrete foundation 16 and the anchor plate 20 are connected by a connecting member 22. In the excavation hole 18, a backfill portion 24 is formed of a backfill material 94 including a solidifying material and soil. A filler layer 26 is formed of a filler 96 containing a solidifying material between the precast concrete foundation 16 and the backfill portion 24. The precast concrete foundation 16 has a through-hole 42 through which the connecting member 22 is inserted, and the filler 96 forming the filler layer 26 is filled through the through-hole 42.

Abstract: A system and method of creating, operating and maintaining a hydrocarbon storage facility in a salt cavern within an underground salt deposit. The system is portable and can be transported to areas near different well heads. The portability also enables adjacent well heads to be worked in succession to create a large storage cavern by interlinking a series of smaller caverns. This formation processes ensures that a storage cavern can be isolated within the confines of a salt deposit. Using the same portable equipment, the system can be configured to form a salt cavern, displace stored material out of a salt cavern, and repair or maintain a salt cavern well.
