  • Patent number: 7526356
Abstract: A system and method for advanced device specific knowledge based modeling as well as intelligent control to yield high performance, low cost automation for optoelectronic design, packaging and assembly. The control loop design is based on knowledge based model predictive control. A knowledge model, specific to the assembled package's characteristics, is used to set the initial “feed-forward” conditions of an automation system. In addition to this feed-forward model for setting the initial set point, the controller is designed with feedback components, along with the inclusion of a built in sensor. This system and method increases the efficiency of the automation process and the number of assembly steps can be greatly reduced. A method for the design, assembly and packaging of optoelectronic devices is also described.

  • Patent number: 7519439
Abstract: A digital processor (2, 102) for use in a digital controller (10) is disclosed. The digital processor (2, 102) includes a coefficient product memory (22) that stores previously calculated products of filter coefficients and each of a set of available input values. The memory (22) is addressed according to a received input value, and outputs a plurality of coefficient products associated with that input value. These coefficient products are combined across time samples (with one or more coefficient products delayed for use in later cycles), to produce an output value. The digital processor (2) can be used in combination with an analog-to-digital converter (4) and a pulse-width modulated circuit (6) to control a power supply. According to another embodiment of the invention, comparators (62H, 62L) and a counter (66) can be used instead of the analog-to-digital converter, for additional efficiency.

  • Patent number: 7509177
Abstract: The invention relates to the control of an orienting/positioning system comprising comprising at least a sensor and an actuator for controlling an orienting and/or positioning action adapted to change an input space of the sensor. A first step evaluates pre-action output information of the sensor in order to detect a pre-action position of a manipulating device in the input space of the sensor. A second step decides on a targeted post-action position of the manipulating device in the input space of the sensor. A third step defines a command for the actuator by mapping any deviation of the pre-action position and the targeted post-action position in the input space of the sensor to actuator control coordinates using a predefined mapping function. A fourth step orients/positions the manipulating device according to the defined command in order to carry out the orienting/positioning action. A fifth step detects a real post-action position of the manipulating device in the input space of the sensor.

  • Patent number: 7454256
Abstract: An NC device includes an accumulation portion for accumulating a report-item corresponding to a report-requiring situation that occurs in a machine. A voice generator control section of the device operates a voice generator to generate a voice for announcing a report-item accumulated by an accumulation portion if a determination portion determines that a operator-in-range information has been generated or in response to a request produced by a request portion. Contrastingly, the voice generator control section does not permit the voice generator to generate the voice if the determination portion determines that the operator-in-range information has not been generated. In this manner, the voice generation is performed efficiently and the operator is reliably informed of the report item.
