  • Patent number: 11301028
Abstract: A device includes a thermal mitigation system that operates to reduce performance of a component of the device to prevent the device from getting too hot. The system uses a combination of a time-based technique and a temperature-based technique to perform thermal mitigation. The time-based technique refers to using an indication of the device usage as well as the amount of current drawn by the device at any given time to predict an amount of time that the device is to run in a non-reduced performance mode before reaching a target temperature threshold, and an amount of time for the device to run in a reduced performance mode to cool down. The temperature-based technique refers to monitoring the temperature of the device (or a component of the device) and powering off the device in response to detecting that a monitored temperature exceeds a critical threshold temperature.

  • Patent number: 11256239
Abstract: Methods and systems are disclosed for simulating a fabrication process based on real time sensor measurements obtained during the process. In one embodiment, a first simulation of the process computes a set of predicted physical responses based on a first set of assumed boundary conditions, and then, during the fabrication process sensor measurements are obtained and used to compute a second set of boundary conditions. A second simulation, based on the second set of boundary conditions, can then be performed to compute an updated set of predicted physical responses that can be compared to the previously computed set of physical responses. The difference(s) can be used to determine line, surface or volumetric response distribution from point, line or surface boundary conditions respectively, whether and how to modify the fabrication process (or other processes) and how to take additive and other manufacturing process decisions real-time using simulation. Other examples are also described.

  • Patent number: 11243585
Abstract: The disclosed embodiments relate to methods, systems and apparatus for dynamic temperature aware functional safety. The disclosed embodiments provide adaptive techniques to track extended dynamic temperature range of a System-on-Chip (SOC) and automatically tune critical IP components of the SOC so that system can operate reliably even at high temperatures. The disclosed embodiments relax the overdesign of the SOC components by reusing existing components such as a ring oscillator to determine temperature at different regions of the SOC. In one embodiment, the disclosed principles use a Calibrated Ring Oscillator (CRO) temperature sensors. The CRO-based temperature sensors provide fast temperature measurement suitable for detecting dynamic temperature ranges and temperature rate of change. The CROs are existing on the SOC and do not require addition of additional sensors.

  • Patent number: 11243586
Abstract: An information handling system includes a processor that runs a maximum memory stress test of a memory module with a refresh rate of memory devices set to a first refresh rate. Then, the processor may receive a power consumption of the memory module. Also, the processor may receive the temperature of the memory devices, and may set the refresh rate to a second refresh rate. The processor may continuously receive both the power consumption of the memory module and the temperature of the memory devices. Based on the continuously received temperature, the processor may determine whether the temperature of the memory devices exceeds a second threshold temperature. If so, the processor may store a first setting as a refresh setting for the memory module. Otherwise, the processor may store a second setting as the refresh setting for the memory module.

  • Patent number: 11225028
Abstract: A design with multiple instances of a three-dimensional article is printed by first defining a unit cell that includes a single instance of a three-dimensional article that repeats in the design along with its nearest neighbor elements in both a plane of a build plate of a target printer on which the design is to be printed and a plane orthogonal thereto. The design is represented in an output file of a design application and a slicer application then generates instructions to manufacture the design by the target printer. The instructions (g-code) include directions to print, for each of a specified number of layers a number of instances of the unit cell that can be accommodated within a build envelop of the target printer per layer as determined by said slicer application. The design is printed by the printer according to the instructions from the slicer application.
