  • Patent number: 7747964
Abstract: A readable operation unit for an image forming apparatus displays items representative of various functions relating to image formation while classifying and dividing them on a switchable screen. The operator can therefore easily understand the contents of operation in relation to the other functions despite that the functions are arranged in a hierarchical construction. Further, the operator can grasp the kind of image data and how the image data are processed and output as a single flow.

  • Patent number: 7712049
Abstract: An improved user interface is provided for allowing the application of two properties or pieces of metadata to an object with a single user action. A two-dimensional radial menu (user interface) is provided. The radial menu is a generally pie-shaped user interface that is divided into two or more slices associated with two or more corresponding types of a first property that may be applied to a selected object. The menu is further divided to two or more circular sections so that each slice of the pie-shaped radial menu is further divided into two or more sections. Each circular section is associated with a type of a second property that may be applied to the object. By selection of a given section in a given slice of the radial menu, one type of the first property associated with the given slice and a one type of the second property associated with the given circular section of the slice are applied to the selected object with a single user action.

  • Patent number: 7673240
Abstract: A method of providing a ubiquitous navigation and program guide user interface that is common across a heterogeneous multitude of digital media devices. A navbar user interface persistently displays across a topmost portion of a display for each of the heterogeneous multitude of digital media devices when the digital media device is operating in a mode other than a full screen display of digital media content. The navbar user interface presents a limited set of icons associated with a navigation and media guide user interface for different kinds of digital media content and device operations that are common across the heterogeneous multitude of digital media devices. The navbar user interface is operated in a scrolling manner to display and select a navigation and media guide interface for a desired one of the different kinds of digital media content and device operations by selecting an associated one of the limited set of icons.

  • Patent number: 7673248
Abstract: A method for displaying a calendar event on an electronic map includes steps of: receiving a request to generate a map view of a selected timeline of calendar events, wherein the calendar events are associated with event locations; converting event locations to geographic locations; generating a map view showing the geographic locations of the calendar events and legends representing the calendar events; and displaying the map view with the legends shown in close proximity to the locations of the calendar events. A user can elect to switch between a display of the map view and a display of a view of the selected timeline. A user can also select to create a calendar event on an electronic map by selecting a location associated with the calendar event on the map; receive a graphical user interface display, enter information about the calendar event on the graphical user interface display, and view the electronic map.

  • Patent number: 7657845
Abstract: The present invention provides a unique system and method for facilitating browsing, sorting, clustering, and filtering any number of media objects grouped together in a quick and easy manner. In particular, the invention involves annotating the media objects, which have been clustered, sorted, and/or filtered en masse rather than individually, with metadata. The media objects may be selected by a user and annotated with a plurality of metadata as desired by a user in order to optimize utilization of the media objects. The media objects may also be combined and/or mixed in any number of ways to create new media objects. Media objects may include an audio component, a visual component, a portion thereof, and/or any combination thereof.

  • Patent number: 7607102
Abstract: A user interface includes elements whose appearance dynamically changes in dependence upon functions associated with the elements. In the case of an icon that is the destination for a drag-and-drop operation, the image displayed for the icon changes in accordance with the object being dragged to it, to represent the task that will be performed as a result of the drag-and-drop operation. The appearance of other elements involved in drag-and-drop operations can also be varied, to reflect the task at hand. As a result, the user is provided with more intuitive feedback regarding the functions that will be performed by the computer as a result of a drag-and-drop operation.

  • Patent number: 7600194
Abstract: Described is distinguishing between input mechanisms to determine which input mechanism was used to activate a start menu. A start menu is selected that corresponds to the input mechanism that was used to activate it. Further data corresponding to start menu interaction is received, and action is taken via based on the further interaction. For example, upon detecting activation of a start menu, how the start menu was activated from among activation types is used to present a first start menu/behavior for a first activation type, which may differ from a second start menu/behavior activated via a second activation type. For example, a determination may be made as to whether a start menu was invoked via a pointing device or via keyboard; when via keyboard, a search entry region may be provided, by which a user may directly enter search criteria via the keyboard.

  • Patent number: 7571390
Abstract: A system and method for projecting the transformation of object trees, especially in MES systems, wherein the course object tree and target object tree are represented in a common meta-object model of a software system, especially a framework. The source object tree is transformed into the target object tree by adjustment. Transformation occurs directly in the object of the meta-object model, thereby enabling communication between connected applications by means of pure data exchange.

  • Patent number: 7565627
Abstract: The present invention leverages query-related information based on a query and/or a search intention to provide a systematic means to facilitate a user in locating desired information despite lacking exact search parameters. This allows users to find information without first formulating an optimum search query. The query graph provides a navigable, graphical notion of the query-related information via nodes representative of the query-related information and edges representative of the associations between the information. In one instance of the present invention, the query graph is derived from an information source such as a query log, a query list, and/or a search engine and the like. Additional instances of the present invention utilize visual and/or audible indicators employed with the query graph to facilitate in relaying the query-related information to the user, including, but not limited to, overlays, icons, colors, and dimensional variances and the like.

  • Patent number: 7565614
Abstract: This invention provides a data processing apparatus and a data processing method for reducing the amount of image data denoting a pattern drawn on a whiteboard by a pen or the like being moved so as to designate locations in a designated sequence. Specifically, a coordinate transformation circuit transforms first-precision coordinate data within first image data into coordinate data of a second precision lower than the first precision, thereby generating second image data. Given the coordinate data in the second image data, a changing point detection circuit detects the coordinate data that are changed in keeping with the locations being designated movably by the pen on the whiteboard, thereby generating third image data including the detected coordinate data in the designated sequence.

  • Patent number: 7562301
Abstract: Techniques for creating a playlist for media objects are provided. The techniques include receiving a selection of a set of IDs. Each ID is generated based on content of a media objects. A playlist ID is then generated based on the set of IDs and a fixed representation of the playlist ID is created. The fixed representation allows a device to use the playlist ID to determine media objects including the content of media objects used to generate the set of IDs.

  • Patent number: 7562308
Abstract: A method of providing user input values for input controls includes receiving, in a graphical user interface wherein input controls are associated with predefined alternative input values, a first input identifying user selection of at least some of the input controls. The method includes receiving a second input identifying user selection of at least one of the predefined alternative input values that is associated with each of the selected input controls. The second input is made using one of the selected input controls. The method includes entering the selected predefined alternative input value in each of the selected input controls. The value may be automatically entered upon receiving the second input. A third input, for example made with a context menu, may be required to enter the value in the selected controls.

  • Patent number: RE41138
Abstract: As to an object-oriented programming, reuse of softwares is enhanced and running speed is improved. There are made up a data element list in which pointers to data storage areas of object A are arranged and a pointer element list in which pointers to pointer storage areas of object B are arranged. A combination of the data element list and the pointer element list makes it possible to directly refer to data of the object A from the object B. Object-oriented programming is performed by displaying objects connected by wirings that represent the flow of data, control or messages from one object to a second object. A coupling of input and output terminal so that objects is shown by displaying a wiring between the terminals. A coupling structure is constructed in accordance with the wiring within an object hierarchy, so that instructions to rearrange, duplicate or replace objects may be permitted. The display is preferably divided into domains, for the respective display of the objects and the wiring.
