  • Patent number: 7896706
Abstract: An audio jack connector has an insulating housing. The insulating housing has a passageway extended from a front surface towards a rear surface thereof for receiving an audio plug connector, a first groove communicated with the passageway and a second groove communicated with the first groove. A first switch terminal received in the first groove has a base plate, an elastic arm extended from one end of the base plate and bent towards the passageway, and a first contacting portion formed at a free end of the elastic arm. A first convexity is formed at a substantially root portion of the elastic arm. A second switch terminal received in the second groove has a second contacting portion. The first contacting portion is driven to move outwards to contact with the second contacting portion when the audio plug connector is inserted in the passageway and resists against the first convexity outwards.

  • Patent number: 7896692
Abstract: A method of improving electrical isolation between a first circuit and a second circuit sharing a common substrate having an effective dielectric constant greater than that of air. The first and second circuits are spaced apart and separated from one another by an intermediate portion of the substrate. The method includes removing a portion of the intermediate portion to replace the portion removed with air thereby reducing the effective dielectric constant of the intermediate portion. By reducing the effective dielectric constant of the intermediate portion, electrical isolation between the first and second circuits is improved thereby reducing crosstalk between the first and second circuits. In particular implementations, the method may be used to reduce alien crosstalk between adjacent communication outlets in a patch panel.

  • Patent number: 7892029
Abstract: An electrical connector includes: an insulating housing defining a mounting face for being mounted on a PCB and a pair of engaging portions at two opposite ends of the insulating housing; a number of contacts retained in the insulating housing; a metal shell assembled on the insulating housing along an assembly direction slanting to the mounting face, the metal shell having a locking portion with a gap through which the engaging portion is inserted in the locking portion and a stopper portion. The stopper portion exceeds the mounting face when the metal shell assembled on the insulating housing along the assembly direction before the electrical connector is mounted on the PCB, while the stopper portion is pressed by the PCB to offset the assembly direction when the electrical connector is mounted on the PCB so as to prevent the engaging portion from deflecting from the locking portion through the gap.

  • Patent number: 7887345
Abstract: This disclosure describes systems and methods for a single-use oximetry sensor in which a single-use connector is used with the sensor assembly. The disclosure describes a connector which consists of a single-use male connector for use with female connector on an oximeter. The connector includes a housing enclosing one or more pins, one or more movable members, and a locking mechanism. Upon engagement of the male connector into the female connector the locking mechanism activates such that when the female connector is removed, the moveable member moves from a first position to a second position and locks into the second position. When in the second position the male connector can not engage the female connector, thereby limiting the male connector to a single use engagement.

  • Patent number: 7874871
Abstract: A connecting assembly for an end of a coaxial cable and having a first element, that is turned around a first axis in a first rotational direction to progressively tighten the first element to a connector, and a housing. The connecting assembly further has: a) an axially elongated first groove in one component; and b) an axially elongated first finger on a second component that resides within the first groove with the connecting assembly in a first state. With the connecting assembly in the first state, turning of the housing in the first rotational direction causes the first finger to cause driving of the first element with a torque up to a predetermined torque. Continued turning of the housing with a torque exceeding the predetermined torque causes reconfiguration of the connecting assembly in a manner whereby the first finger moves circumferentially out of the first groove.
