  • Patent number: 6629074
Abstract: A graphical user interface is implemented to indicate how much of the systems resources are being consumed during a dictation operation, via speech recognition, of a document and its corresponding persistent results information and when said resources are nearing their capacity. An external user may take steps necessary to reduce the information stored within the memory resources of a data processing system implementing this graphical user interface in an efficient and effective manner, through the use of a “commit” signal.

  • Patent number: 6546367
Abstract: Statistical data including an average value, a standard deviation, and a minimum value of a phoneme duration of each phoneme is stored in a memory. When speech production time is determined for a phoneme string in a predetermined expiratory paragraph, the total phoneme duration of the phoneme string is set so as to become equal to the speech production time. Based on the set phoneme duration, phonemes are connected and a speech waveform is generated. To set a phoneme duration for each phoneme, a phoneme duration initial value is first set based on an average value, obtained by equally dividing the speech production time by phonemes of the phoneme string, and a phoneme duration range, phoneme. Then, set based on statistical data of each the phoneme duration initial value is adjusted based on the statistical data and the speech production time.

  • Patent number: 6393401
Abstract: A picture frame and accompanying audio message circuit is provided such that one or more desired audio messages stored in the audio message circuit associated with one or more display pictures can be played upon the touching of the pictures or the frame, or in response to a voice recognition device sensing an audio command associated with the particular audio message and/or pictures. When audio message playback is desired, a switch on the frame or under a protective cover for the picture is activated by touching, or a position sensitive device may be used to sense whether a particular position on the picture has been touched. Digital or analog information representing the desired audio message is retrieved from a memory device, which is subsequently transmitted to a speaker which produces the desired audio message perceptible to a human.

  • Patent number: 6359527
Abstract: An improved, more intelligent network interface unit capable of processing signals received from a high speed transmission media and outputting the received signals without substantial amplification or reduction. The network interface unit comprises a regenerator circuit which detects T1 signals from said high-speed transmission media and outputs a digital stream to a serial data processor for processing via a micro-controller. A wave shaper circuit receives the output from the serial data processor and, in conjunction with the micro-controller and a level detector circuit, regenerates signals having substantially the same wave shape and amplitude as the original T1 signals received from said transmission media.
