Abstract: An example method is provided for a computing device to perform user interface control based on a pinch gesture. The computing device includes a touch-sensitive display. The method may comprise: displaying, on the touch-sensitive display, a user interface that includes a user interface element, which occupies part of the user interface and is selectable for resizing, and detecting, on the touch-sensitive display, a pinch gesture for resizing the user interface element within the user interface. The method may further comprise: determining a direction of the pinch gesture; and based on the direction of the pinch gesture, resizing the user interface element horizontally, vertically or diagonally within the user interface.

Abstract: Using pinch gestures to navigate user interface layers of an application. In particular embodiments, a pinch gesture may cause an application program to close a currently running user interface layer of the application and navigate to another user-interface layer of the application. Abstract: The User Interface Portlet Data Cascade Actuator Apparatuses, Methods and Systems (“UIPDCA”) transforms database data sets, user interface widget data selections inputs via UIPDCA components into cascading UI subsequent views data selections and channel outputs. In one embodiment, the UIPDCA may include a data cascade user interface view apparatus. The UIPDCA's processor issues instructions from a UI view component to generate and broadcast a first event message that specifies a data source parameter associated with a user selection and the channel associated with the UI view component. The UIPDCA's processor issues instructions from a subsequent UI view component to update UI widget elements based on result of executing a query modified using parameters specified in the first event message, and to generate and broadcast a second event message that specifies a data source parameter associated with a default selection and the channel associated with the subsequent UI view component.

Abstract: A system may receive application data in a client-incompatible format and convert at least a portion of the application data into an alternate client-compatible format. In one example, the incompatible format may comprise Enhanced Binary Interchange Format (EBIF) while a client-compatible format may include a web format such as JavaScript, XML or HTML. Interactions (e.g., commands and user input) associated with the application may be received and converted. The interactions may then be processed using the application.

Abstract: A method for enabling a user to customize, prioritize, and view information filtered to align with the user's life state that includes interaction with an online market place. The user provides priority, positioning, and custom information about the user's life state which allows the user to view information in a life view. This information may include at least demographic information, logistical information, ethnic information, social information and psychological information. The partners may use the information about the user's life to filter its information according to the information about the user's life, which is then viewed in a life view by a user, according to the user defined positioning, prioritization, and other custom parameters. The method also enables the user to view partner and user participation in a marketplace to procure the information about the user's life, user ratings according to the user's behavior, and partner ratings according to the partner's information delivery.

Abstract: Various embodiments illustrated and described herein include one or more of systems, methods, software, and data structures for package file presentation. Some embodiments include receiving a package file including a presentation specification, one or more content files, and metadata defining display elements within the presentation specification and associating each display element with one of the content files. The package file may then be presented by instantiating the presentation specification as a function of executable code embedded within the presentation specification. Some embodiments further include instantiating each display element, each display element including a link to an associated content file within the package file and to generate and distribute display elements within a graphical user interface.

Abstract: A computing device can utilize a recognition mode wherein an interface utilizes graphical elements, such as virtual fireflies or other such elements, to indicate objects that are recognized or identified. As objects are recognized, fireflies perform one or more specified actions to indicate recognition. A ribbon or other user-selectable icon is displayed indicates a specific action that the device can perform with respect to the respective object. As additional objects are recognized, additional ribbons are created and older ribbons can be moved off screen and stored for subsequent retrieval or search. The fireflies disperse when the objects are no longer represented in captured sensor data, and can be animated to move towards representations of new objects as features of those objects are identified as potential object features, in order to communicate a level of recognition for a current scene or environment.

Abstract: The present invention provides systems and methods for providing television schedule and/or listing information to a viewer, and for allowing the viewer to link, search, select and interact with information in a remote database, e.g., a database on the internet. The television schedule and/or listing information can be displayed on a variety of viewer interfaces, such as televisions screens, computer monitors, PCTV screens and the like. The television schedule and/or listing information may be stored on the viewer's computer, television, PCTV, or a remote server (e.g., a website), or the television schedule and/or listing information may be downloaded from a remote database to the viewer's computer, television or PCTV.

Abstract: A method includes monitoring media content at media content locations to identify media content items. The media content locations are identified in social network data stored by a set-top box device. The method includes receiving, at the set-top box device, a command to present image cells to a display device. The command is responsive to an alert sent from the set-top box device. The method also includes presenting the image cells at the display device. At least one of the image cells includes an image corresponding to an identified media content item.

Abstract: A system filters received messages (e.g., unsolicited advertisements) to determine if they are appropriate for a user based on the non-static, constantly evolving, context of the user. The system can track the user's context by monitoring various environmental parameters, such as related to the user's physical, mental, computing and data environments, and can model the current context of the user based at least in part on the monitoring. The system selects a set of one or more filters to apply to incoming messages based on the user's context, and the selected filters can be updated as the user's context changes. Messages that survive the filters are then evaluated against the user's context to determine whether they should be presented immediately or stored for delayed presentation.

Abstract: A system and method for selective control of zoom adjustments in an electronic publication is disclosed. The method may include generating content for display on an electronic reading device; generating at least one style for the content, and storing the content and the at least one style on a computer readable medium. The generation of at least one style may include identifying at least a portion of the content for which at least one zoom level will be specified; specifying a base text size for the portion of the content; and specifying a first value to increment the base text size to a first zoom state text size.

A size modifier accesses user interface size data. The user interface size data comprises a size for a first user interface element and a size for a first user input detection area. The size modifier determines a size of a display area of a user device. The size modifier calculates a modified size of the first user interface element. The modified size of the first user interface element is based on the size for the first user interface element and the size of the display area. The size modifier calculates a modified size of the first input detection area based on the size for the first input detection area and a first factor unrelated to the size of the display area.

Abstract: System and method for integrating between a graphic user interface and various types of e-commerce platforms. Here various types of e-commerce platforms will typically provide different types of electronic product pages, each typically with various original selection options. The system described herein provides a more standardized configurator and user interface, and uses this more standardized configurator and user interface to capture information from the various e-commerce platforms and display data to the user. The more standardized configurator and user interface can then be used to communicate user selections to the various different types of electronic product pages and platforms.

Abstract: Systems and methods for providing identification tests. In some embodiments, a system and a method are provided for generating and serving to a user an animated challenge graphic comprising a challenge character set whose appearance may change over time. In some embodiments, marketing content may be incorporated into a challenge message for use in an identification test. The marketing content may be accompanied by randomly selected content to increase a level of security of the identification test. In some embodiments, a challenge message for use in an identification test may be provided based on information regarding a transaction for which the identification test is administered. For example, the transaction information may include a user identifier such as an IP address. In some embodiments, identification test results may be tracked and analyzed to identify a pattern of behavior associated with a user identifier. A score indicative of a level of trustworthiness may be computed for the user identifier.
