  • Patent number: 8330884
Abstract: A pixel array substrate includes a pixel region and a circuit region adjacent to the pixel region. A plurality of display pixel units are disposed in the pixel region and a plurality of dummy pixel units are disposed in the circuit region. Each of the dummy pixel units includes a data line, a scan line, a plurality of switching elements and a plurality of pixel electrodes. The switching elements are electrically connected to the scan line and data line. The pixel electrodes are electrically connected to the switching elements. Particularly, electrostatic currents in the pixel region can be dissipated by the dummy pixel units in the circuit region. The dummy pixel units preserve the continuity of electricity in the pixel array substrate and function as an inner short ring. Therefore, the area of the circuit region on the pixel array substrate is larger.

  • Patent number: 8330892
Abstract: Electrical conductor patterns (20) are provided so as to face respective source lines (SL). In each of the electrical conductor patterns (20), a plurality of electrical conductor islands (21) line up. With a source line (SL) being broken at points P1 and P2, an electrical conductor island (21-j) is connected via point Q1a and Q1b, and an electrical conductor island (21j) is connected via points Q2a and Q2b, by carrying out laser welding. This realizes a display panel including spare lines for respective data signal lines, in which display panel it is possible to increase a probability that a supply failure of a data signal can be avoided, even in a case where a data signal line is broken.

  • Patent number: 8233119
Abstract: There is provided a liquid crystal display device having color filters on a side of a TFT substrate, in which an orientation film is formed by inkjet printing. The formation of an orientation film by inkjet printing is more advantageous than the conventional flexographic printing in terms of the production cost. It is necessary, however, to reduce the viscosity of the orientation film to be applied by inkjet printing. For this reason, first and second orientation film stoppers are formed between a display area and a sealing portion in a TFT substrate, to prevent the orientation film from flowing to an end of the TFT substrate. The orientation film stoppers are formed by the overlapping of color filters. A profile of the orientation film is defined by the first orientation film stopper. The second orientation film stopper is formed to ensure that the orientation film does not flow to the outside.
