Abstract: A digital media resource messaging system provides a convenient digital media resource viewing, managing, organizing, and editing platform that facilitates enhanced resource exchange by storing and forwarding digital media resources via a server between multiple resource-sharing partners designated by the user. In one embodiment, the digital media resource messaging system includes services to view, manage, organize, edit, and exchange digital images and video sequences.

Abstract: A network management system in which an administrator may specify attributes of interest, and the specified attributes are monitored. Graphs/reports corresponding to the specified reports may be generated in a single place (e.g., on a web page) such that the data points for the various attributes may be correlated easily. The specified attributes may contain attributes which are dynamically created (e.g., counters measuring various aspects related to instances of objects). The network management system provides the ability to discover such attributes using a suitable interface, and selection of such attributes as well.

Abstract: A method for detecting undesirable emails combines input from two or more spam classifiers to provide improved classification effectiveness and robustness. The method includes obtaining a score from each of a plurality of constituent spam classifiers by applying them to a given input email. The method further includes obtaining a combined spam score from a combined spam classifier that takes as input the plurality of constituent spam classifier scores, the combined spam classifier being computed automatically in accordance with a specified false-positive vs. false-negative tradeoff. The method further includes identifying the given input email as an undesirable email if the combined spam score indicates that the input e-mail is undesirable.

Abstract: This application discloses methods and computer program products for optimal or at least improved routing by evaluating routing alternatives based on multiple-path elements. The systems and methods can determine the shortest route to network points while maintaining route diversity. As such, the systems and methods can determine diverse routes with network-entrance diversity or diverse routes entering a network through a common access point.

Abstract: Transferring instant messaging sessions includes receiving a selection, from a user within a user interface, of at least one instant messaging session from among multiple instant messaging sessions to transfer from a first instant messaging controller on a first device to at least a second instant messaging controller on a second device, where the user is signed on concurrently to the first instant messaging controller on the first device and the second instant messaging controller on the second device. At least a portion of the selected instant messaging session is transferred from the first instant messaging controller on the first device to the second instant messaging controller on the second device and the transferred portion of the instant messaging session is made perceivable on the second instant messaging controller on the second device.

Abstract: A data processing apparatus capable of transmitting externally received data to a corresponding information processing device even in a case where a plurality of information processing devices are mountable to the data processing apparatus. First device identification information for identifying an information processing device connected to the data processing apparatus is obtained from the information processing device, and first data is received from an external apparatus. When the first device identification information and second device identification information added to the first data match each other, the first data is transmitted to the information processing device connected to the data processing apparatus.

Abstract: A multi-purpose input device (2500) for providing conventional positional tracking, and one or more read capabilities for automatically connecting a user PC (302) to remote node. In one embodiment, a user reads optically encoded indicia (1606) of a product by passing the input device (2500) thereover. A software interface (2505) processes the read information, assembles a message packet, and appends routing information thereto to connect the user PC (302) to an ARS (308) disposed on a common network (306). The ARS (308) performs a matching operation with the received product information to obtain an associated network address of a vendor server (314) having the desired product information. The ARS (308) returns the vendor server address to the user PC (302) whereby the vendor advertiser server (312) is automatically accessed by the user PC (302). The respective product information is then returned from the vendor server (312) to the user PC (302) for presentation to the user.

Abstract: A web site is provisioned with a proxy that receives a page request intended for the server and records a first time. The page request is then forwarded to the server for response. The response stream generated by the server is intercepted at the proxy at a second time. As the stream is forwarded to the requesting client, the proxy inserts a page script that, upon execution at the client, calculates a page render time. This time is determined by calculating the difference between a third time (the time at which the page script begins execution at the client) and a fourth time (a time at which the page rendering is complete). Upon completion of the page rendering, the script opens a connection back to the server and returns a packet that includes the page render time. This packet is received at a fifth time. A transaction record is then built by the proxy using the timestamp data.

Abstract: One embodiment of the present method and apparatus for user-moderation of an online chat room in which a plurality of users are exchanging messages includes providing the chat room and controlling a manner in which the users send and receive the messages in the chat room in accordance with user feedback relating to the messages. In one embodiment, the user feedback is received in the form of user chat profiles, which describe the respective users' participation in the chat room, and flags, which users may be given in response to messages that are deemed inappropriate for the chat room.

Abstract: A device management apparatus is equipped with a function to record document information including link information about a specified linked object in response to a link request and a Web server function to provide the document information to a Web client and is connected with a managed device. The device management apparatus has a recording unit which records information about the managed device; a Web server unit which provides the information to the Web client; and a transmission unit which transmits, to the managed device, a link request for the information about the managed device recorded by the recording unit.

An agent and gateway together assist a Web browser in fetching HTTP contents faster from Internet Web sites over long-latency data links. The gateway and the agent coordinate the fetching of selective embedded objects in such a way that an object is ready and available on a host platform before the resident browser requires it. The seemingly instantaneous availability of objects to a browser enables it to complete processing the object to request the next object without much wait. Without this instantaneous availability of an embedded object, a browser waits for its request and the corresponding response to traverse a long delay link.

Abstract: Mechanisms for enforcing change control in operations performed by operational management products (OMPs) are provided. The mechanisms automate the checking of a request-for-change (RFC) state by an OMP when the OMP is installed in an environment where a change management database (CMDB) has been installed and certain resources or operations have been placed under strict change control. The OMPs of the illustrative embodiments require an RFC identifier to be specified when a change operation of the OMP is invoked. The RFC identifier is used by the OMP to access a service management system so that the OMP may determine if the RFC identifier is valid, IT resources are in the correct state, and the change is scheduled to be performed at the current time. If these checks are passed, then the change operation associated with the RFC is permitted to occur.

Abstract: A method for utilizing networked devices can include a step of receiving a network job associated with a network user. A location of the network user can be automatically determined. One of many possible networked devices can be dynamically selected based upon the determined user location. The network job can be assigned to the selected device.

Abstract: A method of generating a list of target devices to be configured in communication with a server is provided. A first list of target devices to be configured is created. At least one target device having an associated network address is identified and the first list of target devices is modified using the addressed target device. A modified list of target devices is then generated. Programs and systems of generating a list of target devices to be configured are also provided.

Abstract: An MPEG-4 based multimedia system in connection with a service provider therefore, and a remote communication device therefore, is presented. The interactive content based remote communication unit simplifies and reduces the number of steps and buttons required for receiving interactive service by the use of MPEG-4 encoded data. Additionally, new ways are disclosed for the data processing at the service provider side. Further, an improved way of exchanging data between the service provider (broadcaster, cable provider) and the customer (viewer) is presented. Still further, there is disclosed how digital equipment (server, set-top box, remote control unit and display) involved in the data processing can be optimized for the task of controlling the available channel bandwidth and displaying the data.

Abstract: Methods and computer program products are provided for improved routing by evaluating routing alternatives based on multiple-path elements. The homing models provide a solution for improved access homing while balancing latency, load-balancing, and diversity needs by viewing each network in isolation or the combination of networks as a single network.

Abstract: The shortcomings of the prior art are overcome and additional advantages are provided by securing display of sensitive messages to prevent third parties from viewing sensitive content. For one or more incoming messages designated as sensitive, substitute content to be displayed in place of sensitive content is received from a message recipient. Alternatively or additionally, an indicia to be displayed with any incoming message designated as sensitive is received from the message recipient. A message having sensitive content is designated as sensitive by a sender, a recipient, or an intermediate system. Upon receipt of a message designated as sensitive, a message window is displayed that includes substitute content different from the sensitive content. The substitute content includes an indicia that the sensitive content is not displayed.

Abstract: Methods and systems are described for learning correlation rules used in event management. In one aspect of the invention, a method comprises the steps of: (a) marking one or more event groupings; (b) employing a machine learning program to learn the underlying concept of these groupings; (c) including a rule right-hand side; and (d) putting the new rule in the Rule DB. A system to implement this method may comprise components for: (1) interactive visualization and user interface control; (2) query-based learning; (3) Event DB access; and (4) correlation Rule DB access.

Abstract: A system and method applied to a communications network which transmits document portions in which an original document portion having an identifier portion and an information portion is replaced or swapped with a substitute null document portion. The reads the identifier portion of the original document portion, determines the information portion of the original document portion, and issue a swap order when an undesired original document portion is found. A modified document is created by inserting the substitute null document portion in place of the undesired portion and the modified document is passed on to the user set and displayed. Also, the system performs detection and replacement of undesired content in emails, such as junk mail, viruses and confidential material.
