Abstract: Methods, computer-readable storage medium, and systems described herein facilitate registering and consuming network services on a virtual network. A virtual machine management server (VMMS) is configured to receive a service definition associated with a network service. The VMMS creates one or more service profiles based on the service definition. The VMMS configures a plurality of hosts based on the one or more service profiles such that the network service is usable, via a virtual network, by one or more virtual machines within the plurality of hosts.

Abstract: The disclosed techniques provide systems and methods for generating content feeds with topic discovery capabilities. More specifically, various procedures are described for generating content feeds by selecting at least one of two of a first quantity of content items, a second quantity of content items, and a third quantity of content items. The first quantity of content items is selected based on a dynamically generated user interest profile associated with a particular user. The user interest profile can include a subset of first interest categories in which a specific user of a social networking system has indicated an interest. The second quantity of content items is selected based on a interest categories in which other users of the social networking system, having one or more characteristics that are the same or similar to the specific user, have indicated an interest. The third quantity of content items is selected randomly.

Abstract: Systems and methods of generating a common social timeline to facilitate social discovery in a social networking environment are disclosed. In one aspect, embodiments of the present disclosure include a method, which may be implemented on a system, of receiving data items associated with users of the social network, identifying a first set of data items associated with a first user, and processing the first set of data items to select a first set of characteristics. The method further comprises comparing the first set of characteristics with other sets of characteristics describing other users to select a subset of the other users having one or more characteristics that are the same or similar to one or more of the first set of characteristics.

Abstract: A cloud system includes a first application server to perform a user-requested task, a second application server to provide an additional resource to the first application server, a first cache server to provide a caching service to the first application server, a second cache server to provide a caching service to the second application server, and a management server to copy data stored in the first cache server into the second cache server when the second application server provides the additional resource to the first application server.

Abstract: A system for allocating heterogeneous resources may include a client device, a plurality of heterogeneous resources, and a server host. The client device may be configured to request access to one or more specific resources, and the server host may be configured to allocate the requested resource(s) to the client device in response to the server host determining the availability of the requested resource(s). The client device may then establish direct and/or exclusive access to the requested resource(s) and communicate commands to and exchange data with the requested resource(s), bypassing the server host. The server host may also be configured to queue requests for unavailable resources and to later grant access to those resources upon those resources becoming available. Methods of allocating heterogeneous resources are also provided, as are other aspects.

Abstract: There are provided a system, a method and a computer program product for controlling one or more media files in a mobile device. The system predicts a future usage of the media files. The system ranks each media file according to a likelihood that the each media file is processed at a time and a location associated with the predicted future usages. The system preemptively downloads the media files to a local data storage device of the mobile device, according to the ranking. There are also provided a system, a method and a computer program product for using one or more networks for a mobile device. The mobile device downloads an amount of data while the mobile device is connected to the first pre-determined wireless network. The mobile device configures certain applications in the mobile device to use the second pre-determined wireless network.

Abstract: A system and a method for accessing data objects provided through an OData service involve receiving, at an application server, a data access request from a client computing device. The data access request specifies in a platform-independent manner an access operation to be performed on a first data object. The application server translates the data access request into an OData compliant request. The OData compliant request is then transmitted to the OData service to perform the access operation.
