  • Patent number: 8738233
Abstract: An apparatus for determining seat occupancy includes a seat for a vehicle, which has a seating portion, right and left load detecting portions arranged between a vehicle floor and either one of a front portion and a rear portion of the seating portion, the right load detecting portion detecting a load applied to a right side of the seating portion, the left load detecting portion detecting a load applied to a left side of the seating portion, and a seat occupancy determining portion calculating a seating load of the seat on the basis of the detected loads and determining the seat occupancy of the seat by comparing the seating load with a predetermined threshold value, wherein the seat occupancy determining portion varies the predetermined threshold value depending on of a difference value between the loads applied to the right and left sides, respectively, of the seating portion.

  • Patent number: 8688773
Abstract: System and method for dynamically enabling an application for business continuity are described. In one embodiment, a business continuity engine (“BCE”) for managing and controlling a high-availability applications comprises a configuration management module for maintaining information regarding the current configuration of a BC application; a status monitor for monitoring a status of the BC application via a high-availability (“HA”) wrapper thereof and initiating a migration of the BC application from a first server of a primary cluster to a second location of a secondary cluster based on the determined status; and an application migration module for migrating the BC application to the second server responsive to the initiating. The BCE further comprises a storage area network (“SAN”) migration module for enabling storage media for use by the BC application; and a communications module for facilitating an exchange of data between the BC engine and the BC application.

  • Patent number: 8683078
Abstract: A method and system for QoS control for remote access to UPnP devices, is disclosed. Enabling QoS control for remote access to UPnP devices involves providing a UPnP control point; providing a UPnP device in a network, wherein the first UPnP control point is connected to the network via a communication link; and providing access between the UPnP control point and the UPnP device by utilizing a UPnP proxy that examines UPnP messages in and out of the network and translates the local URL in the message to a URL that is accessible by the UPnP control point over the communication link.

  • Patent number: 8626370
Abstract: A control apparatus is applied to a vehicle that has shift modes including the continuously variable shift mode, in which a ratio of the rotational speed of a power source to the rotational speed of a drive shaft is continuously adjusted, and the stepped shift mode, in which the ratio is fixed. The control apparatus includes a control unit that controls the torque that is output from the power source to make the time that is required to bring the drive torque of the drive shaft from a predetermined value to a target value in the stepped shift mode equal to the time that is required to bring the drive torque of the drive shaft from the predetermined value to the target value in the continuously variable shift mode. In this way, the difference in drivability between the continuously variable shift mode and the stepped shift mode is minimized.
