Abstract: A scalable multi-cluster resource sharing facility. A global witness process runs on a first computing platform that communicates over one or more networks to any number of nodes situated over two or more clusters. The global witness process listens on the network for occurrences of leadership and/or resource requests from nodes of different clusters. The global witness processes a request by retrieving a resource request and a respective last known state value, comparing the last known state value to a global stored state value, then storing a new state value when the respective last known state value is equal to the stored state value. Any number of contemporaneous requests can be processed by the global witness process, however only one request can be granted. The other requestors each receive a rejection of their resource request when their proffered last known state value is not equal to the stored state value.

Abstract: Disclosed are various embodiments for providing split-tunneled network connectivity on a per-application basis. A DNS query is received from a locally hosted DNS resolver. A first recursive DNS query is sent to an external DNS server and a second recursive DNS query is sent to an internal DNS server. A first recursive DNS response is then received from the external DNS server and a second recursive DNS response is received from the external DNS server. A response is then provided to the DNS query.

Abstract: Systems and methods include a cloud hub located in a premises, and the cloud hub comprises adapters configured for coupling to premises devices. The cloud hub is configured as a gateway for the premises devices. The system includes a virtual gateway located in a cloud server environment and coupled to the cloud hub. The virtual gateway is configured as a server-side abstraction of the cloud hub. The cloud hub and the virtual gateway are configured as an automation platform that maintains state data of the premises devices, controls interaction among the premises devices, and monitors and manages the premises devices.

Abstract: A method and a scoring node for estimating a user's Quality of Experience, QoE, when a service is delivered in a media stream to the user by means of a communication network. Quality-related parameters pertaining to the service delivery are extracted, and an individual opinion score is determined for each of a set of quality models by applying each respective quality model in the set on the quality-related parameters. An aggregated opinion score is then determined as a weighted average of the individual opinion scores. The aggregated opinion score can then be used as an estimation of the user's QoE for the service delivery, e.g. when evaluating the service and/or the communication network.

Abstract: Methods and systems for providing bidirectional communications between client devices and server devices are described herein. Server devices in a cluster may bidirectionally communicate with client devices in a resource site via direct connections or virtual connections. One or more server devices may act as intermediate server devices for communications via virtual connections, and may distinguish different types of messages based on header contents of the messages.

Abstract: A network-based data store maintaining storage volumes for file systems at storage clients may implement dynamic storage volume scaling. A scaling event may be detected according to a specified scaling policy for a storage volume maintained at a network-based data store that is mounted at a storage client and configured for a file system. In a least some embodiments, the scaling policy for the storage volume may be received from the storage client. In response to detecting the storage event, storage maintaining the storage volume may be modified according to the scaling policy to scale the storage volume. An indication of the scaling event may be sent to the storage client in order to update the file system at the storage client so that the file system may utilize the scaled storage volume.

Abstract: Examples described herein involve switching between two user accounts of a streaming media service. In an example implementation, a playback device stores data representing credentials for multiple user accounts including a first user account of a first streaming audio service and a second user account of the first streaming audio service. The playback device receives instructions to play first audio content from the first streaming audio service and plays back the first audio content by streaming data representing the first audio content from one or more servers of the first streaming audio service using credentials of the first user account. The playback device detects a trigger associated with the first user account of the first streaming audio service and switches from streaming data representing the first audio content using credentials of the first user account to streaming data representing the first audio content using credentials of the second user account.

Abstract: An electronic healthcare system for delivering medical services is described. The electronic healthcare systems can includes modules for accessing patient electronic medical records and ordering medical services, which involve HL7 communications between disparate healthcare organizations. The communications can involve custom communication interfaces which are used to parse and translate HL7 messages. Methods and apparatus are described for generating the custom communications interfaces. In one embodiment, the custom communication interfaces can be generated using machine learning algorithms trained to recognize various data types in message segments contained in HL7 messages.

Abstract: In some implementations, a system adaptively adapts engagement between a user and an application based on prior user interactions and context data associated with the user. A performance category for which performance is tracked for a user of the application is initially identified. Context data indicating a current context of the user is received from a client device associated with the user. One or more responsiveness scores indicating actions of the user with respect to the performance category following the previous communications through the application are determined. A communication is then selected from among communications of multiple types based on the context data for the user and the one or more responsiveness scores for the user. A time to provide the communication to the user is determined based on the context data. The selected communication is provided for output by the client device at the determined time.

A packet processor modifies the LAP records by updating the candidate UAP values based on information associated with packets received from electronic devices. A probing manager modifies each LAP record by updating each LAP record to include a determined UAP value selected from the candidate UAP values based on attempts to connect to an electronic device of the electronic devices using selected candidate LAP-UAP value pairs. Each pair has the LAP value of the LAP record and a selected one of the candidate UAP values that is selected based on one or more computed metrics associated with the candidate LAP-UAP value pairs.

Abstract: A discovery application may obtain, from a remote storage system configured to host storage structures, first data that identifies relationships among the storage structures. The discovery application may generate, based on the first data, a mapping of the storage structures, store the mapping as one or more configuration items, and provide, to the remote storage system, instructions configured to cause the remote storage system to notify the discovery application of modification events associated with the storage structures. The discovery application may receive, from the remote storage system, a notification of a modification event associated with a particular storage structure of the storage structures and, in response, obtain, from the remote storage system, second data that identifies a modification to the particular storage structure. The discovery application may modify the mapping based on the second data and store the modified mapping by updating the one or more configuration items.

Abstract: Data is received describing a local model of a first device generated by the first device based on sensor readings at the first device and a global model is updated that is hosted remote from the first device based on the local model and modeling devices in a plurality of different asset taxonomies. A particular operating state affecting one or more of a set of devices deployed in a particular machine-to-machine network is detected and the particular machine-to-machine network is automatically reconfigured based on the global model.
