  • Patent number: 9279397
Abstract: A method for purging fuel vapors, comprising: purging fuel tank vapors directly from a fuel tank to an engine intake, bypassing a canister, via a venturi, while drawing canister vapors via the venturi into the purged fuel tank vapors en route to the engine intake. In this way, fuel tank vapors may be used to enable purging of a fuel vapor canister, even under conditions where there is insufficient manifold vacuum to enable a canister purge routine. By increasing the frequency of purge opportunities, bleed emissions from a saturated canister may be reduced.

  • Patent number: 9242639
Abstract: A hybrid vehicle intermittently operates and stops an engine, travels through control over torque generated by the engine and torque generated by a second motor generator, causes a fuel vapor gas purge system to carry out purging of fuel vapor gas when a predetermined condition, including a condition that a coolant temperature is higher than or equal to a permissible temperature, is satisfied, and sets the permissible temperature to a value lower when a specific driving operation state that includes a state where the number of times of accelerator operation per unit time is higher than or equal to a threshold has been detected than when the specific driving operation state has not been detected. When the specific driving operation state has been detected, the hybrid vehicle increases the updating rate of a concentration learned value of fuel vapor gas, and decreases the rate of increase in target purge rate.

  • Patent number: 9194289
Abstract: The object of the present invention is a methane pressure reducer/regulator for feeding internal combustion engines which comprises a body divided into three chambers, communicating with each other by means of high resistance conduits and by means of an opening/closing element which is integral with an elastic diaphragm, whose surface is proportionally larger than the opening/closing element so that a modest pressure in the chamber upstream from the elastic diaphragm is sufficient to bend it, overcoming both the methane pressure resistance in the adjacent chamber, and the methane pressure resistance in the chamber directly connected to the tank(s), as well as the counter spring resistance. When the elastic diaphragm bends, it pushes a stem whose end is integral with the opening/closing element that allows or prevents the methane passage through a hole connecting the chamber from which methane is sent to the engine to the chamber wherein methane comes directly from the tank(s).

  • Patent number: 9188001
Abstract: The present invention relates to internal combustion engines and more particularly reciprocating piston engines utilizing Scotch yokes to translate rectilinear movement to rotary motion. In particular, the piston and/or pistons of the engine of the present invention can be placed in their topmost position for a period of time for the effective ignition and combustion of the air/fuel mixture for a given fuel charge, hence therefore providing an increased efficiency of the piston engine with a more efficient coupling between the piston and/or the power shaft driving the crank.
