Abstract: Presented are footwear sole structures with pressure-mapped midsole topographies and inlaid wear-mitigating outsoles, methods for making/using such sole structures, and footwear fabricated with such sole structures. An article of footwear includes an upper for receiving and attaching to a foot of a user, and a sole structure attached to the upper for supporting thereon the user's foot. The sole structure includes a midsole that is formed with a first material having a first hardness, and an outsole that is mounted to the midsole and formed with a second material that is harder than the first material. The midsole has a ground-facing surface with multiple cavities, multiple channels interspersed with the cavities, and ground-contacting land segments that separate the cavities from the channels. The outsole is disposed in the channels and positioned between the cavities such that a ground-contacting outsole surface is substantially flush with the midsole's ground-contacting land segments.

Abstract: An upper component for an article of footwear allows easy entry of the foot into the article of footwear. The upper component includes a heel body, which includes a first portion partially defining an ankle opening. The heel body further includes a second portion coupled to the first portion. The second portion is foldable and partially defines the ankle opening. The second portion is movable relative to the first portion between an unfolded configuration and a folded configuration. The upper component includes at least one tension member coupled to the second portion. The tension member is movable relative to the first portion to move the second portion from the unfolded configuration to the folded configuration. The ankle opening is larger when the second portion is in the unfolded configuration than when the second portion is in the folded configuration.

Abstract: An interchangeable ornamentation system for a footwear comprises a base fastener affixed to a base. The base and the base fastener collectively define a foundation. A first strap and a second strap are coupled to the base. The first strap and the second strap are both configured to individually couple to foot straps of the footwear for matingly and removable attachment to the base fastener so that the foundation is removably attached to the footwear. A removable ornamentation includes a decorative member and an ornamentation fastener. The decorative member oppositely faces the ornamentation fastener. The ornamentation fastener is configured to matingly and removably attach to the base fastener.

Abstract: A skate (e.g., an ice skate) for a user (e.g., a hockey player). The skate comprises a skate boot for receiving a foot of the user and a skating device (e.g., a blade and a blade holder) disposed beneath the skate boot to engage a skating surface. The skate boot may be designed to better fit the user's foot and/or enhance skating performance of the user, such as by being shaped in accordance with anatomy of toes of the user's foot and/or enhancing integrity of the skate boot.

Abstract: A clamp includes a cap, a base, a plurality of staggered protrusions on the base and the cap, a hinge, and a latch. The hinge is defined by the cap and the base. The latch is configured to secure the cap to the base. A footwear includes laces on the footwear, an upper, and at least one aforementioned clamp. The clamp attaches to the upper and the laces, securing the laces. The clamp may be repositioned and may be removable.

Abstract: An article of footwear is provided and includes an upper, a fluid-filled chamber including a first portion in contact with the upper in a first region, and a midsole including a first portion disposed between the fluid-filled chamber and the upper in a second region.

Abstract: A footwear sole structure may include a plurality of discrete hexagonally-shaped sole elements defined by a plurality of sipes. The sipes may include a plurality of sipes that extend in a transverse direction across the sole structure and a plurality of sipes that extend in an oblique direction relative to the transverse sipes. A plurality of sipes may also subdivide the hexagonally-shaped sole elements into one or more diamond-shaped sole element portions. The sole structure may include additional features such as non-hexagonal sole elements and lugs distributed across a bottom surface of the sole structure.

Abstract: A cleat adapter assembly is provided for a cycling shoe. The cleat adapter assembly basically includes a first connecting portion, a second connecting portion and an adjuster. The first connecting portion is configured to be connected to a cleat. The second connecting portion is adjustably connected to the first connecting portion. The adjuster is configured to adjust a relative position between the first connecting portion and the second connection portion.

Abstract: A sole structure for an article of footwear comprises a midsole system with a plurality of cushioning units, each having multiple cushioning layers configured to work together as a system to absorb a compressive load, such as a dynamic compressive load due to impact with the ground, in stages of progressive cushioning according to the relative stiffness values of the layers. Various midsole systems disclosed include isolated cushioning units, linked cushioning units, sole layers having stanchions interfacing with the midsole system, midsole systems with sole layers having keyed and unkeyed portions overlying a bladder, and midsole systems with vertically-stacked cushioning units disposed in inverted relationship to one another.

Abstract: The present shoe and therapy system pertains to a uniquely designed shoe that provides therapeutic benefits to wearers. It includes a fold-down heel portion that is designed to repeatedly fold and straighten such that a wearer may collapse the heel into the interior of the shoe and then wear the shoe while standing on the collapsed heel. The folded down fold-down heel includes a plurality of bumps or ridges positioned to provide acupressure therapy to the wearer when folded down, but the heel may alternately be folded up so that the shoe may be worn in the traditional manner.

Abstract: A lace guide for an article of footwear comprises a base, a body protruding from the base, and an enlarged head at a distal end of the body. The body, the base, and the enlarged head define an external channel that extends at least partially around the body to receive and retain a lace. The base may be a heel counter, and the lace guide and the heel counter may be an integral, one-piece component. Alternatively, the base of the lace guide may be a wing extending along a side of the upper, or may be secured to a footwear upper.

Abstract: The invention is a high heel shoe with an upper that will provide comfort and flexibility for the wearer. In a preferred embodiment the upper consists of two at least two materials: 1) a firm fabric, such as leather, that will hold the shape of the design and have limited flexibility; 2) a flat knitted elastic, such as knit elastic, which will not narrow, or not narrow significantly, when stretched. In addition, the firm fabric is configured to have a flex-point and in a preferred embodiment is formed of two pieces of the firm material having a “split” between them providing the desired flex-point.

Abstract: Footwear includes one or more of: (a) an upper portion at least partially defining a foot-receiving chamber; (b) a track component integrally formed or engaged with the upper portion; (c) a heel engaging component movable with respect to the upper portion via the track component between a closed configuration and an open configuration; (d) a locking system, e.g., holding the heel engaging component in the closed configuration; (e) a biasing system, e.g., applying force to the heel engaging component toward the open configuration; (f) a stop system, e.g., keeping the heel engaging component from completely disengaging from the track component; and/or (g) a sole structure. When the footwear is supported upright on a horizontal surface, the heel engaging component may move rearward (and in some examples upward) via the track component when changing from the closed to the open configuration.

Abstract: Described is a shoe, in particular an athletic shoe. The shoe can include a sole and a shoe upper. The shoe upper can include (a.) a lateral portion; (b.) a medial portion; and (c.) intermediate portion between the lateral portion and the medial portion. The intermediate portion can include a cupped portion uncoated by a first coating portion on the lateral portion and a second coating portion on the medial portion. When the shoe upper is separate from the sole at least a majority of the cupped portion may be cupped above surrounding areas of the shoe upper.

Abstract: A roofing shoe traction chassis system has a roofing shoe traction chassis with a toe strap, foot strap and heel strap coupled thereto for securing a shoe to the chassis. The chassis also has a detachable traction sheet configured for attachment to the base of the roofing shoe chassis. The roofing shoe traction chassis can be quickly donned over a pair of shoes allowing a user to wear a more comfortable and better ventilated shoe. The detachable traction sheet can be changed out as the traction layer is worn. An exemplary roofing shoe traction chassis has a strap support that extends up from a support plate and has a toe strap and foot strap aperture to receive and retain the toe and heel straps respectively. The support plate may also have post apertures for receiving and retaining heel strap posts.

Abstract: A heel traction device for attachment to a heel of a shoe or a boot comprises a traction platform formed of a flexible rubber material. The traction platform has a first face for contacting a ground surface and a second face for attachment to the heel of the shoe or boot. The traction platform defines a plurality of openings formed therethrough for receiving a traction element in each of said openings. A support band is connected to the traction platform for securing the traction platform to the shoe or a boot. The support band has a rear portion for attachment to a rear portion of the shoe or the boot and two opposing side portions for attachment to side portions of the shoe or the boot. Each of the side portions define a slot formed therethrough for receiving a strap.

Abstract: A shell for a ski boot of the kind comprising an outer shell made of a substantially rigid material and an inner liner made of a substantially soft material is provided. The shell is provided with a gaiter made of a waterproof material, and the lower edge of the gaiter is secured to the inner surface of the shell and the gaiter extends beyond the upper edge of the shell. Preferably, the base of the shell comprises a removable portion so that a through-opening is obtained in the base of the shell, which through-opening guarantees an easy access to the inner space of the shell for accurate securing of the gaiter to the inner surface of the shell.

Abstract: A heel insert is provided for an article of footwear that includes an upper defining a foot-receiving cavity having an ankle opening. The heel insert includes a base. The heel insert includes a spine extending outward from the base to a tip of the spine such that the spine extends upward along a posterior wall of a heel region of the upper toward the ankle opening when the base is operatively connected to the heel region. The tip of the spine is moveable relative to the base between a first position and a second position along a longitudinal axis of the article of footwear. The heel insert includes a spring operatively connected to the spine such that the spring biases the tip of the spine toward the first position of the tip. The tip of the spine is resiliently deflectable toward the second position against the bias of the spring.

Abstract: A composite cleat includes a first component and a second component. The first component is made of a first material and is formed a first connecting portion extended along a longitudinal axis and a ground contact surface disposed at one end thereof. The second component is made of a second material different from the first material and is formed a second connecting portion fixedly connected with the first connecting portion and a threaded stud disposed at one end thereof.

Abstract: A sole of a sole structure includes an upper wall portion disposed on an upper side, a lower wall portion disposed on a lower side and spaced away from the upper wall portion, and a pair of sidewall portions that extend substantially in a vertical direction between the upper wall portion and the lower wall portion, that have a vertical zigzag shape, that are coupled to the upper wall portion and the lower wall portion, and that extend in a longitudinal direction along the outer peripheries of the upper wall portion and the lower wall portion. The upper wall portion and the lower wall portion and a pair of sidewall portions are resin-made wall members with a predetermined thickness and form an interior space. Each of the sidewall portions has concave parts recessed inwardly and convex parts protruding outwardly and it is compressible in the vertical direction.
