  • Patent number: 9271215
Abstract: It is checked if a first CRE from a first cell is larger than 0 and if a second CRE from a second cell is larger than 0. If both the first and the second CRE are larger than 0, a first modified CRE is set based on the first CRE and a second modified CRE is set based on the second CRE. If the first CRE and/or the second CRE is equal to 0, the first modified CRE is set the first CRE and the second modified CRE is set to the second CRE. One of the first and second cell is selected for cell selection and/or handover based on a comparison of a sum of a signal strength indicator from the first cell and the first modified CRE and a sum of a signal strength indicator from the second cell and the second modified CRE.

  • Patent number: 9271131
Abstract: Electronic communications are managed across multiple identities. A user is able to create an account as well as any desired, required, or appropriate number of profiles under the account. Text messages are exchanged between users using specific profiles. For example, some text messages can be exchanged using a personal profile while other text messages need to be exchanged using a professional profile. In some instances, exchanged text messages are saved to a centralized archive. As such, one or both of the users involved in an exchange can request to retrieve some or all of the exchanged messages at a later time.

  • Patent number: 9258152
Abstract: A receiver is optimized by adapting parameters of a linear equalizer component within the receiver. Data decisions and error decisions are generated. These data decision and error decisions are used to derive an error rate of data by measuring the number of margin hits that occur. A balance value is also calculated from the data decisions and the error decisions. The balance value is used to update parameters of the linear equalizer. The updating of the parameter continues until the number of margin hits has been minimized.

  • Patent number: 9246723
Abstract: Described herein are techniques related to transmitter precoding for optimizing positioning performance. The techniques are directed to transmitting a plurality of preambles in a plurality of directions with different precoding for each transmission. The receiver analyzes the channels from the preamble and estimates the time of arrival (ToA) of the line-of-sight (LoS) component. Based on the best estimation of the earliest ToA, the receiver may determine the LoS distance between the receiver and the transmitter.

  • Patent number: 9240911
Abstract: A digital communications receiver can comprise a digital filter that can be configured and later reconfigured multiple times as, for example, a matched filter, an equalizer, a matched filter and equalizer, or the like. For example, the digital filter can be initially configured as a matched filter for use with a correlation module to detect pilot symbols. Detected pilot symbols can be utilized to estimate characteristics of a channel from the distant transmitter to the receiver, and the estimated channel characteristics can be used to determine coefficients for an equalizer for reducing channel distortion in future transmissions received over the channel. The digital filter can then be configured as an equalizer or a matched filter and equalizer. If the later, the digital filter can both equalize incoming transmissions from the distant transmitter and, with a correlation module, identify any pilot symbols in the transmissions.

  • Patent number: 9219624
Abstract: A method and device for reporting antenna calibration information and determining antenna calibration factor are provided by the present invention. When reporting the antenna calibration information, a user equipment (UE) estimates the downlink equivalent baseband channel from a plurality of antennas of the base station to the UE; according to the equivalent baseband channel, determines the amplitude response and delay value to be reported, and then reports the amplitude response and delay value to the base station. When determining the antenna calibration factor, according to the uplink signal sent by the UE on the base station-directed time-frequency resources, the base station determines the amplitude response and the delay value; according to the amplitude response and delay value reported by the UE and according to the amplitude response and delay value determined by the uplink signal, the base station calculates the antenna calibration factor.
