  • Patent number: 6301722
Abstract: Flexible pads primarily intended for use as protective padding for athletes and other users. In one preferred embodiment, the pads include two, outer layers of substantially inelastic material spaced apart by a middle section of discrete beads of substantially elastic, resilient material. Adjacent beads of the middle section preferably abut one another and are integrally joined to each other. Similarly, the outer layers of the pad contact adjacent beads of the middle section sandwiched therebetween and are joined to them to form an integral, strong pad. The outer layers of the pads are preferably porous and breathable and made of waterproof (non-absorbent) material. The resilient beads are preferably also made of waterproof material wherein moisture and air will readily pass through the assembled pads but will not be absorbed by any of the component layers or beads. The pads help to keep the athlete cool and dry in use and can be washed and dried for re-use.

  • Patent number: 6226795
Abstract: A custom-fitted hand protector product, including a multi-layer protective pad for being custom-fitted onto the back of the hand to protect the hand of the wearer between the wrist and the fingers. The protective pad comprises a flexible inner cushion layer for being placed closest to the hand and an initially flexible intermediate layer overlying the inner layer, said intermediate layer comprised of a fabric impregnated with a moisture-curable resin which hardens upon curing to form a rigid structure of the fabric which retains a hand-molded shape into which it is molded during curing, thereby also holding the flexible inner cushion layer in the same hand-defined shape. Releasable attachment devices are attached for retaining the protective pad in an exposed, exterior position on the back of the hand. The product is packaged in a moisture-proof package until immediately prior to use.

  • Patent number: 5970514
Abstract: A face mask includes an arcuate transparent sheet which extends about a central axis, and which has an upper engaging edge portion extending therealong. The upper engaging edge portion has a central positioning hole formed in a middle thereof to define a reference line with the central axis, two elongated first grooves formed respectively at two side ends of the upper engaging edge portion to define a first chord therebetween perpendicular to the reference line, and two elongated second grooves respectively inboard to the first grooves. The second grooves define a second chord therebetween perpendicular to the reference line. Each of the first and second grooves extends along the upper engaging edge portion. Each second groove is longer than each first groove. As such, the face mask can be assembled on different kinds of helmets and the like.
