    Abstract: In combination with a brushless, three phase synchronous motor forming part of a flywheel starter of an internal combustion engine and having a stator with field windings and a winding-free toothed rotor having a pole pitch angle, a circuit for generating a rotating field for the windings is disclosed. The circuit includes a sensor positioned near the rotor for generating signals indicative of the pole pitch time of the rotor. A divider circuit is provided for generating a current flow signal for each field winding in response to the sensor signals. A delay network is coupled to the divider circuit and determines a time delay between the start of the pole pitch time and the start of the current flow signals.

    Abstract: An elongated clock includes a pair of adjacent, cylindrical, rolls providing one roll with five minute segments indicated and a second roll with twelve hours of morning and evening indicated. These rolls are mounted about a shaft connected with a constant speed motor which rotates the minute cylinder at a constant rate. A gearing arrangement at the end of the shaft couples the shaft with the roll indicating hours and turns the hour roll once every hour. A segmented drive gear is coupled to the shaft and includes a pair of teeth which engage a pinion which in turn has every tooth meshing with a gear attached to turn the hour roll. Thus, one complete rotation of the shaft produces one-twelfth of a full rotation of the hour roll. The pinion gear is prevented from overriding after indexing because a locking rim of the segmented drive gear nestles into gear teeth extensions of every other tooth of the pinion gear.

    Abstract: A timepiece having both analog and digital display includes a single stem operated correcting mechanism which adjusts each display independently. A correcting pinion, slidably mounted on a winding stem, provides for engagement at both ends thereof. In a first axial position of the winding stem, one end of the pinion engages a wheel train for correcting the analog display when the stem is rotated. In a second axial position of the winding stem, the correcting pinion engages a spring biased cam whereby electrical switches are intermittently opened and closed when the stem is rotated for correcting the digital display. Advancement or retardation of the displays depends on the direction of stem rotation.

    Abstract: In order to determine the adjustment precision .DELTA.T of a timepiece provided with an oscillator (1) and an adjustable frequency divider chain (3-18; 18-20) on which an adjustment unit (15) acts, initially the real period TQ of the oscillator is measured with the adjustment unit disconnected following a first actuation of a time setting circuit (21). A second actuation of said circuit then effects running of the display at a rate n times above the normal and the adjustment unit is connected. Following a time T/n representing the adjustment cycle the period TQ is measured as corrected by the amount n.DELTA.T, thus TQ+n.DELTA.T. The first measured value obtained is subtracted from the second thus giving n.DELTA.T which when divided by n gives the adjustment precision .DELTA.T.

    Abstract: The glass (1) of the wrist-watch casing carries the ornamental pieces of the casing visible face surrounding the watch dial (17). These pieces comprise a frame (2) of precious or semi-precious material or a very thin metallized layer (31) deposited under the glass (1). The frame (2) is glued in an indissoluble and resistant manner under glass (1) and a spacing frame (3) is similarly glued under frame (2). The collar (6) of tapped sockets (5) is caught and glued in lodgings (7) provided in the face of frame (3) which is glued to frame (2). The unit composed of these pieces (2, 3, 5) and the glass (1) are removably secured to the caseband (8) by means of screws (9) crossing the caseband and engaging sockets (5) fitting borings (19) of the caseband.Under the metallized layer (31) a single spacing frame (25) of base metal is necessary and sockets (5) are welded in lodgings (26) of that frame.

    Abstract: A salat time alarm electronic timepiece is implemented with a one chip microcomputer. An outer read only memory is installed in the electronic timepiece for storing the sunrise time data and the sunset time data at various cities in world. The system reads out sunrise time and sunset time data from the outer read only memory and calculates five salat times of the present day. The thus calculated salat time data is stored in a storage means and compared with the current time data to provide an alarm sound when the current time reaches one of the five salat times.

    Abstract: A stop watch (FIG. 2) for use by runners. A strap is provided and the strap bars 56,57 are disposed at a high level while the back 61 of the watch case is concave or dished. Push-buttons or control pins 17, 18, and 19, for starting, stopping, and resetting the watch, are disposed parallel to the axis of the watch and are actuated by pressing in the axial direction with the finger. These features accommodate strapping the watch to the hand so that the watch fits comfortably in the palm of the hand which is a convenient location when worn by runners.
