  • Patent number: 10049158
Abstract: Disclosed are various embodiments for identifying events in media content based on user actions with respect to the rendering of such media content. To this end, media content is rendered in a computing device. User actions are obtained relative to a user interaction with the media content item. Such user actions are sent in the form of user behavior reports to at least one server. Each user behavior report indicates the user action and a timestamp associated with the user action, the timestamp indicating a point in the media content item. An application on the server identifies events in the media content based on the information in the behavior reports.

  • Patent number: 9965038
Abstract: Projected input and output devices adapt to a desktop environment by sensing objects at the desktop environment and altering projected light in response to the sensed objects. For instance, projection of input and output devices is altered to limit illumination against and end user's hands or other objects disposed at a projection surface. End user hand positions and motions are detected to provide gesture support for adapting a projection work space, and configurations of projected devices are stored so that an end user can rapidly recreate a projected desktop. A projector scan adjusts to limit traces across inactive portions of the display surface and to increase traces at predetermined areas, such as video windows.

  • Patent number: 9830062
Abstract: Systems and methods for optimizing content performance using click types are provided. A content generation system receives request for a content item for presentation on a client device. The request includes an indication of a serving context for the content item. The content generation system uses a click type performance model and the serving context for the content item to calculate a predicted performance metric for the content item for multiple different potential click types. Each of the potential click types defines different criteria for triggering an event that occurs in response to a user interaction with the content item when the defined criteria are satisfied. The content generation system selects one of the potential click types based on the predicted performance metrics and generates a content item having the selected click type. The click type performance model is updated using event data from the client device.

  • Patent number: 9832516
Abstract: A system for multiple device interaction with selectably presentable multimedia content includes an output engine, an input engine, a manager, and a memory that stores selectably presentable multimedia content segments. Each content segment represents a predefined portion of one or more content paths. The output engine, executing on a first device, receives a subset of the content segments, assembles them into a seamless multimedia presentation that is one of the content paths, and plays the assembled multimedia presentation. The input engine, executing on a second device, receives user interactions associated with the multimedia presentation, and the manager coordinates the multimedia presentation among multiple devices based on the user interactions. A method implementing the above steps is also included.

  • Patent number: 9774723
Abstract: Apparatuses and methods that generate and send interactive elements to a plurality of wearable electronic devices are discussed. One or more mobile applications and one or more remote backend servers may cooperate to send information in the interactive elements to one or more instances of a time synchronous application in order to bring different types of content such as timely and relevant data, events, and notifications to a user of a wearable electronic device without the user's intervention to actively retrieve the different types of content. The interactive elements may be generated and sent from any of i) a public application programming interface (“API”) hosted on a server, ii) one or more mobile applications resident on one or more mobile computing devices, or iii) one or more remote backend servers. In addition, these sources may merely send content and commands for the interactive elements to the public API.

  • Patent number: 9652867
Abstract: A method and system for providing a dynamic grain effect tool for a media-editing application that generates a grain effect and applies the grain effect to a digital image. The application first generates a random pixel field for the image based on a seed value. The application then generates a film grain pattern for the image by consecutively applying a blurring function and an unsharp masking function, based on an ISO value, to the randomly generated pixel field. The application then blends the grain field with the original image by adjusting each pixel based on the value of the corresponding pixel location in the grain field. The application then adjusts the grain amount in the previously generated full-grain image by receiving a grain amount value from a user and applying this value to the full-grain image.
