  • Patent number: 8889007
Abstract: The present invention is a wastewater treatment system utilizing a recirculating filter system comprising sand, gravel, or synthetic media. Septic effluent is continuously, or approximately continuously, dosed under pressure to the treatment media through pressure compensating drip irrigation emitters. The system comprises a commonly known septic tank and recirculation tank. Septic tank effluent is collected in the recirculation tank, from which it is continually dosed by means of a pump to the top of the treatment media of the recirculating filter through pressure compensating drip emitters. Continuous dosing of diluted residential septic tank effluent through drip irrigation emitters provides a slow consistent application of liquid rich in organic material and pathogens over the treatment media. The treated effluent is then recirculated if water is low or went to final disposal.

  • Patent number: 8845889
Abstract: An oil filter reservoir includes a reservoir housing having a filter, which divides the housing into an oil inlet chamber and an oil outlet chamber. A housing inlet and a housing outlet circulate oil in and out of the reservoir housing. The filter includes a permeable wall and a bypass valve, which releases the increased oil pressure and volume in the inlet chamber during cold temperature operation. A baffle in the outlet chamber is spaced apart from the bypass valve and permits limited oil flow through the baffle. • Patent number: 8828222
Abstract: A wearable or portable intermittently operable hydration system includes a purification module that contains one or more solid state light emitting devices that are positioned in the path of hydrating fluid, or water, flow through the hydration system to a mouthpiece. The light emitting devices illuminate a photocatalytic material disposed within the flow path in order to react and create fluid-purifying hydroxyls. The lights are instant on devices with essentially no ramp-up required, and a sensor or the opening of a push-pull valve controls the turning on of the lights. The fluid flow path may run from a bladder in a backpack worn by the user, a sports bottle worn by or carried by the user or may be through a water filtration system that a user operates via a pump. The power for the purification module may come from batteries, solar cells, fuel cells, or power converted from pumping, winding, etc.

  • Patent number: 8790513
Abstract: Convenience stores are provided a beverage water processor for coffee and beverages. The “ideal” total dissolved solids (TDS) of perhaps 110 parts per million is achieved without a blendback process. The R/O water is remineralized with a flow through calcite bath. A potassium chloride source is used to inject the exact amount of potassium chloride needed to reach the ideal TDS on the fly before the water reaches the storage reservoir. Alarms trigger a bypass loop to keep the store in business during shutdown. All output water passes through a UV sterilizer.

  • Patent number: 8746559
Abstract: A method and system is disclosed for streamlined purchase of consumable chromatographic columns and efficient instrument management. Purchase orders for chromatographic columns are entered into based on estimating usage for a fixed period. An initial partial shipment is made of tagged columns as the columns are used. An RFID transmits trigger signals until an order point is reached at which time a new partial shipment is made. This process is repeated until the end of the fixed period. A general control system is in wireless communication with a plurality of apparatuses to ensure prompt and accurate supply of consumables used by the apparatus. As the apparatus uses the consumables, the instrument management system sends indicia from the apparatus to the general control which controls and monitors the number of specific consumables sent to the apparatus.

  • Patent number: 8734641
Abstract: A wastewater tertiary media filtration system capable of enhancing filtration performance while including backwashing capabilities that eliminate turbidity spikes by using compressed fluid injected to the interior of submerged includes a filter tank having an inlet and an outlet with a plurality of pile cloth media filter disks disposed in generally parallel relation between the inlet and outlet. Each filter disk preferably includes opposing filter panels disposed in generally parallel spaced relation and supported by a frame. The filter disks may be angularly disposed at approximately 55-degrees relative to horizontal so as to maximize settlement velocity in accordance with the advantages of inclined plate technology. Backwashing is primarily accomplished by injecting compressed fluid (such as air) to the interior of each filter disk assembly whereby accumulated solids are blown off of the cloth filter media by reverse flow.

  • Patent number: 8721876
Abstract: An apparatus for treating water stored in a reservoir to remove contaminants has a feed line for receiving water and a by-pass valve that controls the flow of water through the feed line. A venturi valve responds to the rate of flow of water through a flow line by creating a vacuum in a supply line from an ozone generator, the extent of the vacuum created being dependent on the rate of flow, to add ozone at a controlled rate to the water to be treated. A sensor probe measures the oxidation reduction potential of the water, to supply hydrogen peroxide to the water at a controlled rate dependent on the oxidation reduction potential level. The ozone and the hydrogen peroxide are mixed with the water in a multicyclone unit to allow a peroxone reaction to occur that treats the water, and the treated water is returned to the reservoir.
