  • Patent number: 9992006
Abstract: A method and apparatus are described for a User Equipment (UE) to transmit in a control channel ACKnowledgement signals associated with a Hybrid Automatic Repeat reQuest process (HARQ-ACK signals) in response to receiving Transport Blocks (TBs) transmitted from a base station. The UE conveys the HARQ-ACK information by selecting one resource from multiple resources in the control channel and by selecting a constellation point of the modulation scheme for the HARQ-ACK signal. Transmission diversity is supported using different control channel resources that are already available to the UE without configuring additional resources. Design principles are described to optimally map the HARQ-ACK information to control channel resources and modulation constellation points for a Time Division Duplex (TDD) system and for a Frequency Division Duplex (FDD) system.

  • Patent number: 9986479
Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure relate to performing a tune-away from a first radio access technology (RAT) to a second RAT. These techniques include, for example, a method in which one or more radio resources of a user equipment are tuned away from the first RAT (e.g., LTE technology) to the second RAT (e.g., legacy 2G/3G technology and/or Wi-Fi or Bluetooth technology). Based on detecting a need to tune away one or more radio resources, the UE may then determine a tune-away metric for each serving cell based on one or more performance impact factors associated with the serving cell being tuned away. The UE may select one or more of the cells to be tuned away based on the determined tune-away metrics. The UE may then tune one or more radio resources corresponding to the selected at least one cell away from the first RAT to the second RAT.

  • Patent number: 9973391
Abstract: Systems, apparatus, and methods are described for enhanced checkpoint summary based monitoring for an event candidate within a wireless node network of ID nodes, a master node, and a server. The master node listens for ID node signals, detects a first advertising signal, and records a first observed parameter (e.g. sensor data generated by the ID node) based upon the detected first signal. The master node detects a subsequent group of signals broadcast by the ID node and records a group of observed parameters based upon respective ones of those signals. The master node generates a first checkpoint summary representing a first set of advertising signals (the detected first signal and the detected subsequent group of signals). The first checkpoint summary includes a summary observed parameter based upon the recorded observed parameter for the first signal and each of the recorded observed parameters for the subsequent group of signals.

  • Patent number: 9882613
Abstract: Embodiments of the disclosure relate to determining actual loop gain in a distributed antenna system (DAS). In this regard, a test signal(s) having a first power level is injected into a DAS from a first contact point. The test signal(s) is configured to propagate from the first contact point to a second contact point over a downlink path and an uplink path, thus creating a signal loop(s). A second power level of the test signal(s) is measured at the second contact point, and an actual loop gain of the DAS is determined by subtracting the first power level from the second power level. By determining the actual loop gain of the DAS, it is possible to further determine a gain margin of the DAS. Based on the gain margin, it is possible to determine optimization possibilities for the DAS to maximize capacity and performance of the DAS.
