Abstract: An aqueous preparation having soft-feel properties comprises: A) an aqueous polyurethane-polyurea dispersion, B) a hydroxy-functional polyacrylate copolymer dispersion and C) a polyisocyanate, which may have been hydrophilically modified. The copolymer dispersion B) further comprises a hydroxy-functional polycarbonate diol D) as a reactive diluent. The invention also concerns a process for producing coatings with such preparations, a substrate coated with such a preparation and the use of the preparation for the production of soft-feel coatings.
Abstract: There are provided a substrate film, a laminate, and method of manufacturing a polarizing film. The present application provides a substrate film capable of effectively manufacturing a polarizing film having a thickness of about 10 ?m or less, about 8 ?m or less, about 7 ?m or less, about 6 ?m or less, or about 5 ?m or less and having an excellent function such as polarization performance, a laminate, and a method of manufacturing the same. According to the invention, it is possible to prevent tearing, curling, or the like from occurring in the elongation process and manufacture a polarizing film by easily elongating a polarization material such as a PVA-based resin.

Abstract: [Problem] To increase adhesive strength between an aqueous base coat layer and a clear coat layer in a coating method by a two-coat one-bake system where an aqueous base coat paint is coated, then a clear coat paint is coated, and these two coated films are simultaneously hardened, in comparison with the conventional method. [Solution] Provided is a coating method using a specific hardener in a clear coat paint. Namely, the hardener is characterized in that (1) it includes a reaction product of (i) a derivative of 1,6-hexamethylene diisocyanate including a trimer and virtually not including a diisocyanate monomer, and (ii) a compound having both an active hydrogen and a hydrophilic group; and (2) viscosity at 23° C. is not more than 1,000 mPa·s. The compound having both an active hydrogen and a hydrophilic group herein is a compound having an active hydrogen-containing group and a sulfo group represented by formula (I), and preferably the sulfo group in a hardener is neutralized with a tertiary amine.
Abstract: An article includes a substrate, a sol-gel conversion coating on at least a portion of the substrate, and a treatment layer on at least a portion of the sol-gel conversion coating. The treatment layer includes an amino alcohol. A method of manufacturing the article includes applying a partially cured sol-gel composition to at least a portion of a substrate, at least partially drying the partially cured sol-gel composition to form the sol-gel conversion coating, applying a solution including an amino alcohol to at least a portion of the sol-gel conversion coating, and at least partially drying the solution including the amino alcohol.
Abstract: An object of the present invention is to provide a photocurable sheet-type adhesive composition for optical use, which is used for bonding cover glass and a touch panel, a touch panel and a display module, or the like, and has high appearance reliability and storage stability even under high temperature and high humidity. The present invention is a photocurable sheet-shape adhesive for optical use, which contains the following components (A) to (D): (A) 100 parts by mass of a urethane (meth)acrylate oligomer having a weight average molecular weight of 20,000 to 100,000; (B) 3 to 70 parts by mass of a phenoxy resin having a glass transition temperature of 50 to 120° C.; (C) 0.1 to 10 parts by mass of a photopolymerization initiator; and (D) 1 to 50 parts by mass of a (meth)acrylate monomer which has 8 to 30 repeated blocks having an ether linkage in the molecule and containing at least one (meth)acryloyl group in the molecule.

Abstract: A back-face protection sheet for a solar cell module exhibits excellent adhesion strength and tensile strength even under a high-temperature and high-humidity environment, by using a plastic film that has excellent characteristics such as electrical insulation characteristic, heat resistance, dimension stability, mechanical strength, weatherability, and water resistance, and using a two-part type lamination adhesive having excellent weatherability. The back-face protection sheet is made to have excellent adhesion strength and tensile strength for a long period of time, even under a high-temperature and high-humidity environment, by improving weatherability (hydrolysis resistance) as base material films, and giving weatherability (hydrolysis resistance) to the two-part type lamination adhesive to be used in pasting together the base material films.

The polyurethane resin can have a glass transition temperature of less than 25° C. Methods of preparing waterborne coating compositions and substrates at least partially coated with waterborne coating compositions are also disclosed.

Abstract: PVC-skinned composites include a substrate, a skin and an intermediate polyurethane layer. The polyurethane layer is characterized in having a low molecular weight between crosslinks, i.e., is somewhat highly crosslinked. The high level of crosslinking in the polyurethane leads to improved performance of the skin layer. The skin layer retains its original color upon aging, is less prone to shrinking and other loss of physical properties, and adheres better to the polyurethane layer.
