Abstract: The invention relates to a chip card designed to communicate data in a contactless mode with a card reader operating at a reading frequency. The resonance frequency of the chip card may change according to the capacitance of the chip used in the contactless mode of the chip card. In order to be able to use various chips without changing the booster antenna design, the card antenna circuit is provided with a capacitance element such that the chip card including the card antenna circuit and the chip module has two different resonance frequencies, one of which being equal to, or lower than, the reading frequency and the other being equal to, or greater, than the reading frequency. This create a broadband wherein the reading frequency falls.

Abstract: A concentric CRR sensor is claimed that is used as a form of currency verification in order to combat counterfeiting currency. The system comprises applying sets of concentric CRR printed with transparent conductive ink. In one embodiment, using the CRR as a passive RFID tag, changing the ring's radii, inner or outer, and in turn, created more encryption, and thereby prevents currency counterfeiting. In one or more embodiments, the serial number of the currency bill is used as a guideline to a selection algorithm to determine the size of the radii.

Abstract: Connection bridges (CBR) for dual-interface transponder chip modules (TCM) 200 may have an area which is substantially equal to or greater than an area of a contact pad (CP) of a contact pad array (CPA). A given connection bridge may be L-shaped and may comprise (i) a first portion disposed external to the contact pad array and extending parallel to the insertion direction, and (ii) a second portion extending from an end of the first portion perpendicular to the insertion direction to within the contact pad array (CPA) such as between C1 and C5. The connection bridge may extend around a corner of the contact pad array, may be large enough to accommodate wire bonding, and may be integral with a coupling frame (CF) extending around the contact pad array. The transponder chip modules may be integrated into a smart card (SC).
Abstract: A package for an integrated circuit is marked with an encoded image (e.g., a two-dimensional barcode). The encoded image is scanned by a scanner to obtain manufacturing parameters. In one approach, a method includes: fabricating, in a manufacturing facility, a physical product using a manufacturing process, where the physical product is fabricated according to specifications, and the manufacturing process includes manufacturing steps performed in the manufacturing facility; marking the physical product with an encoded image, where the encoded image encodes parameters that include the specifications; and transporting the physical product to a storage facility, where the storage facility includes a scanner configured to scan the encoded image to obtain the parameters.
Abstract: A metal accessory having a non-contact communication function, includes: an integrated circuit element (IC chip) for control, capable of performing non-contact short-range wireless communication with an external terminal; a loop antenna with a predetermined length, having both ends connected respectively to both ends of the integrated circuit element for control; and a body part, which is made of a metal or precious metal material, is formed into a loop shape having a through hole formed through the center thereof, and has a slit formed by cutting a partial section of the loop. The integrated circuit element for control and the loop antenna are provided inside the body part, the loop antenna is wound several times along the loop-shaped body part, and a portion of the loop-shaped body part is completely cut by the slit.

Abstract: A method apparatus are directed to identify items disposed on the bottom shelf of a shopping cart bottom of basket (BoB). Certain aspects envision a distance measurement sensor and computing system connected to the shopping cart. A first set of distance measurements of the bottom shelf when empty is obtained via the distance measurement sensor. Next, at a checkout stand, a second set of distance measurements of the shelf are taken, which can be used to compare with the first set of distance measurements to identify if there is an object on the BoB. An alert can be provided to a checkout attendant if there is an object on the BoB.

Abstract: An ATM pre-registration tool allows a user to request an amount of cash from an ATM before traveling to that ATM. The pre-registration tool receivers a user's request and determines whether a specified ATM contains the requested cash. If the ATM does not contain the requested cash, the pre-registration tool informs the user that the ATM does not contain sufficient funds to fulfill the user's request. If the ATM contains the requested cash, the pre-registration tool instructs the ATM to reserve that cash for the user.
