Patent number: 5676556Abstract: A lever-coupling type connector includes a pair of one and other connector housings to be fit into each other; a lever rotatably supported by the one connector housing and having a guiding groove; the other connector housing having an introducing protrusion to be engaged with the guiding groove; wherein the lever has a locking hook protruded from its supporting shaft, and the one connector housing includes an elastic locking piece having an elastic step to be engaged with the locking hook when the lever is rotated in a direction of coupling both connector housings. The lever is urged in an anti-fitting direction by the elastic force of the elastic locking piece in a state where both connector housings are completed fit into each other. This permits the state of semi-fitting of both connector housings to be easily recognized.Type: GrantFiled: September 21, 1995Date of Patent: October 14, 1997Assignee: Yazaki CorporationInventors: Noboru Yamaguchi, Hiroki Takahashi

Patent number: 5669779Abstract: In a jack that receives a "make with break" plug or jack, there is provided a "make without break" plug. The jack has a circuit with a set of contacts that are normally closed. The circuit is opened by displacing one of the contacts out of contact with the other contact. With the make without break plug, only a minimal displacement of the jack contacts occurs. The plug minimizes the displacement of the jack contacts by limiting the physical size of the plug. A preferred embodiment utilizes a reduced radius to form a notch in the plug. This notch receives the jack contacts with little or no displacement of these contacts. Another technique used to minimize the displacement of the jack contacts is to limit the amount of force exerted by the plug against the jack contacts. The plug itself is provided with displaceable and pliant contacts. Less force is required to displace the plug contacts than is required to displace the jack contacts.Type: GrantFiled: September 26, 1995Date of Patent: September 23, 1997Assignee: Industrial Technology, Inc.Inventors: George G. Patent number: 5669790Abstract: A lead sealing device that resides within the connector cavity of a pacemaker or defibrillator intended to prevent fluid intrusion by automatically sealing the lead lumen when the lead connector is inserted. The sealing mechanism may be in the form of a silicone disk located at the base of the space defined by the connector cavity in which the lead is inserted to make electrical and physical contact. It may be fixedly located at the bottom of the connector cavity, or may be a movable plug located within the connector cavity at a location other than the bottom of the cavity, such as adjacent to the connector block. In that case, the pin will make contact with the movable plug immediately after passing through the connector block, and will remain in contact with and seal the lead lumen while the pin and plug are further advanced to bring the pin into its final location to make electrical contact with the connector contact.Type: GrantFiled: December 7, 1995Date of Patent: September 23, 1997Assignee: Ventritex, Inc.Inventors: Dean F. Patent number: 5647758Abstract: An improved electrical connector assembly includes interengaging plug and receptacle connector components. One of the connector components is equipped with engagement screws, and the other connector component is equipped with screw-receiving cavities which engage the engagement screws. Each engagement screw has a guide portion in the form of a projecting guide pin fixed to its tip which projects past an endface of the one connector so as to provide a pair of alignment members which are received within the other connector cavities prior to mating of the plug and receptacle components together. With this arrangement, the exact alignment of the plug and receptacle connectors is permitted by inserting the engagement screws in the cavities prior to the mating of these connectors, thereby eliminating the possibility of interference between opposing male and female terminals of the two connector components which would cause damage to the terminals and the connector components.Type: GrantFiled: January 11, 1996Date of Patent: July 15, 1997Assignee: Molex IncorporatedInventors: Shozou Ichikawa, Naoya Matsuura

Patent number: 5643006Abstract: This invention relates to a safe light bulb socket structure mainly used for a C7 or C9 type light bulb. The socket shell of the socket structure according to the invention has an extended thin non-rigid sheet or an extended thin displaceable rib formed on its top and a thin annular appendage integrally molded on the opening at its lower end. When the socket shell is assembled with a light bulb and a socket cap, the thin sheet and the thin annular appendage will fill all leaks at the joining area, producing a watertight effect. In addition, two contact plates are arranged parallel to the electrical wire trench of the socket, with the upper ends thereof piercing into the plastic sheath of electrical wires and the lower ends thereof touching the tip and the ring contacts of the light bulb respectively. With this arrangement, the bad influence of contact plates on the joining of the socket shell and the light bulb, which is frequently found in a prior art socket structure, can be avoided.Type: GrantFiled: December 26, 1995Date of Patent: July 1, 1997Inventors: Shou Jing Wang, Sher Yea Tal
