Patent number: 4056813Abstract: There is described a passive replicator device to be used in magnetic bubble domain systems. The replicator is passive, i.e., does not require an active element such as a current source or the like, and both propagates and replicates bubble domains. In a preferred embodiment, the replicator uses chevron type elements arranged in an appropriate pattern so as to interact with a pair of propagation paths wherein bubble domains are propagated. A bubble in one propagation path is routinely transferred therealong and, concurrently, replicated by the instant device into another propagation path. A plurality of elements arranged in juxtaposition to the chevrons assists in controlling the propagation of the bubbles through the respective propagation paths and, at the appropriate time, provides a cutting action wherein a bubble which is elongated between the chevrons of the two propagation paths is split into two separate bubbles.Type: GrantFiled: October 20, 1975Date of Patent: November 1, 1977Assignee: Rockwell International CorporationInventors: Thomas R. Patent number: 4042916Abstract: A magnetic bubble domain system in which magnetic bubble domains travel along propagation tracks or paths from one location to another, the complexity of the system being such that individual magnetic bubble domain paths are required to cross each other. A magnetic bubble track crossover element is included in the magnetizable overlay pattern defining the respective magnetic bubble domain propagation paths, being located at the intersection of a pair of such propagation paths so as to regulate the flow of individual bubbles from the respective propagation paths in crossing the intersection to remain undisturbed in continuing their respective courses along the same path. The crossover element is made of the same magnetizable material of the remainder of the magnetizable overlay pattern, e.g. permalloy, as provided on a layer of magnetic material of a type suitable for the propagation of magnetic bubble domains therein.Type: GrantFiled: September 15, 1975Date of Patent: August 16, 1977Assignee: Texas Instruments IncorporatedInventor: Christopher Teh-Min Chang

Patent number: 4042908Abstract: In a detection apparatus for determining the operability of lighting circuits, a high frequency oscillator operates at a frequency different from that of the power source for the lighting circuits. An electrical element having a high impedance at the oscillator frequency is connected in series with the lighting circuits. Another electrical element having substantially a constant impedance supplies the oscillator output to a connection point between the first electrical member and the lighting circuits. A detecting circuit determines failure of at least one of the lighting circuits by detecting the presence of a high frequency voltage at the connection point. The detected high frequency voltage is rectified and used to indicate failure of the lighting circuit or circuits.Type: GrantFiled: December 5, 1975Date of Patent: August 16, 1977Assignee: Koito Seisakusho Co., Ltd.Inventors: Shin Amano, Takeshi Tanga

Patent number: 4041478Abstract: The invention relates to a plate of magnetic material wherein magnetic domains can be formed and driven along guide structures consisting of discrete elements of magnetizable material, for example, vapor-deposited permalloy. The plate is used as a memory, a number of mainly parallel extending input structures forming paths for the domains between relevant outputs of the memory and relevant inputs of a decoding device. The decoding device comprises delay elements which can each be activated by a specific rotary field sequence. The output of the decoder device has connected thereto a detection element which can thus selectively detect a domain from a predetermined input structure, because exactly for the relevant domain a synchronization exists between a part of the rotary field sequence and the arrival of the relevant domain at a delay element.Type: GrantFiled: October 23, 1975Date of Patent: August 9, 1977Assignee: U.S. Philips CorporationInventors: Adrianus Wilhelmus Maria van den Enden, Franciscus Antonius Kuipers, Edmond DE Niet, Willem Frederik Druyvesteyn

Patent number: 4041448Abstract: A locomotive is fitted with a transmit and a receive coil. Resonant circuits are packaged within a housing that is secured at a preselected point along a railroad track to serve as a position marker. When the locomotive passes the marker, a signal is coupled from the transmit coil in the locomotive to the marker resonant circuit and back to the receiver coil in the locomotive. Discrimination circuitry is connected to the receive coil for ensuring that the received signal has a minimum amplitude and a particular phase relationship with the signal in the transmit coil. Further, the received signal must maintain these amplitude and phase relationships for a preselected count. Upon proper discrimination, a "mark" signal is generated to an event recorder on board the locomotive.Type: GrantFiled: August 5, 1976Date of Patent: August 9, 1977Assignee: Vapor CorporationInventor: Richard H.
