  • Patent number: 4691944
Abstract: A flanged end (98) of a section of tubing (90) is received within a tubular portion (112) of a first member (104) which includes a threaded end portion (110). An elastomeric O-ring (116) snugly surrounds the section of tubing (90) and contacts the flange (98). An elongated sleeve (120) surrounds the tubing section (90) and at its inner end (124) contacts the O-ring (116). A radial surface (144) on a second member (128) contacts a radial shoulder surface (126) on the sleeve (120). The second member (128) makes a threaded connection (110) with the first member (104). When the threads (110) are tightened, the radial surface (144) on the second member (128) applies an axial force on the shoulder (126), moving the sleeve (120) into compressing contact against the O-ring (116), but without transferring torque to the flange (98) at the end of the tubing section (90 ).

  • Patent number: 4114928
Abstract: An inner conduit is received in an outer conduit in overlapping relationship. A locking member is received in the outer conduit for lateral shifting into locking engagement with the inner conduit. There are two spaced apart abutment surfaces on the outer conduit, and a toggle member is received in the outer conduit. When the toggle member is expanded, a clamping force is exerted from one of said abutment surfaces to the other through the locking member and the inner conduit, to hold the conduit members tightly together. The locking member and the toggle member can be operated by manual screws, or by a piston powered cam. Seals can be inserted between the inner and outer conduits to establish a fluid-tight seal.

  • Patent number: 4077656
Abstract: A joint between two members and a gasket therefor. The members have transverse annular opposed faces. The gasket is a ring having a base and a frusto-conical lip extending radially inward from the base. The base is adapted to be clamped between the two faces of the members and has serrations on one side thereof for establishing sealing contact with one of the faces. The frusto-conical lip extends axially toward the other face and is subject to fluid pressure for ensuring sealing contact therewith.
