  • Patent number: 7457670
Abstract: Producing complicated effects based on image processing operations. The image processing operations are defined for a processor which may be different than the processor which is actually used. The processor that is actually used runs an interpreter that interprets the information into its own language, and then runs the image processing. The actual information is formed according to a plurality of layers which are combined in some way so that each layer can effect the layers below it. For example, the layers may add to, subtract from, or form transparency to the layer below it or make color filtering the layer below it. This enables many different effects computed and precompiled for a hypothetical processor, and a different processor can be used to combine and render those effects.

  • Patent number: 7437215
Abstract: A system for controlling operation of a progressing cavity pump to maintain the motor operating under power disturbance conditions. For a blackout condition, a backspin controller uses regenerative power to provide controlled deceleration of the pump, counteracting backspin and preventing backspinning freely. For a brownout condition, a power dip controller weakens the motor field to maximize pump production consistent with reduced input power availability. For a phase loss or voltage imbalance condition, a phase loss controller reduces motor power output to keep drive system output power at or below single phase capacity.

  • Patent number: 7424408
Abstract: An aircraft engine face radar cross section analysis is computed using a finite element based approach. A finite element model is only created for a periodic slice of the aircraft engine face. The system matrix of the finite element model is then transformed into a series of independent modes in a block diagonal matrix using a Discrete Fourier Transform. Each of the independent modes is then solved using an “infinite” pipe arrangement to remove the effects of rim scattering and the incident wave. The solved independent modes are summed together to determine the scattered electromagnetic field for the aircraft engine face. The scattered electromagnetic field is then used to calculate the radar cross section of the aircraft engine face.

  • Patent number: 7406357
Abstract: Product descriptions (e.g., brochures) and processing instructions required to create a product (impose, print, fold, staple) can be abstracted into common vocabularies that link one to the other. A link from a product description to the processing instructions is made. A set of pre-defined templates containing specific processing instructions can be selected. Templates representing the processing instructions have a set of capabilities for the process network described. Templates representing the processing instructions can associate a set of well-defined queries regarding the product description, answers to which are used to complete process templates. A System of Classification when constructed can be used to classify a vocabulary to describe products and a separate vocabulary to describe required processing for the product(s). Once a System of Classification is established, templates for various product classes can be created.

  • Patent number: 7277842
Abstract: A helical scan drum design for use in non-tracking tape devices which assures 70% coverage of a track to be read by overscanning with at least two read heads at approximate 1X speed. The present invention further provides a simulation method for evaluating potential drum designs for such overscan applications. The preferred drum design uses pairs of read heads having identical azimuth angles and positioned on the rotating drum such that in combination they overlap the scan of a track by 130% the track width. These dimensions assure at least 70% coverage of each track by at least one of the pair of heads at up to 1X speed while assuring no overlap with another recorded track recorded along an identical azimuth angle. The simulation method allows for evaluation of potential drum designs by accepting parameters describing the intended drum application and then simulating track read operations over a plurality of simulated tracks to determine the efficacy of the design over a range of tape speeds and gap widths.

  • Patent number: 7275028
Abstract: In an emulated computing environment, a method is provided for logically decoupling the host operating system from the processor of the computer system with respect to certain processor settings of the processor. A hypervisor of the emulation program replaces some of the processor settings of the processor with processor settings associated with software routines or data structures provided by the guest operating system. The replaced processor settings are written to memory. During this period, when the processor calls a software routine or accesses a data structure associated with the replaced processor setting, the processor will call or access a software routine or access a data structure associated with the guest operating system, bypassing the host operating system and communicating directly with the guest operating system. When the host operating system is to be recoupled to the processor, the processor settings that have been saved to memory are rewritten to the appropriate registers of the processor.
