Abstract: Example embodiments provide systems and methods for overlay contrast control in augmented reality displays. In an example method, contrast enhancement data including data describing at least a portion of a background image for presentation under an informational overlay on a display device is accessed. The informational overlay includes at least one of a graphical element or a textual element to partially obscure a scene. Data identifying at least a portion of the information overlay under which the background image is to be presented is generated. The background image is presented on a display device atop the portion of the scene corresponding to the portion of the informational overlay, and the information overlay is presented on the display device atop the background image and the scene.
Abstract: A method for rendering and displaying video. The method includes executing an application at a processor. As instructed by the processor when executing the application, the method includes rendering a plurality of image frames at a plurality of graphics processing units (GPUs). The method includes determining information related to relative timing between renderings of the plurality of image frames. The method includes encoding the plurality of image frames into a video file. The method includes encoding the information into the video file.

Abstract: A system and method provide for rapid generation of 3D models of complex environments by using a coordinate measurement machine to scan an environment having one or more objects to generate a point cloud comprising a plurality of points, analyzing the points without creating surfaces using the points to determine boundaries of the environment and boundaries of the object within the environment, excising a region of points within the point cloud representing the object, where the excised region of points is determined using the boundaries of the environment and the boundaries of the object, and creating a modified point cloud by replacing the excised region of points with a digital object from a digital object library.

Abstract: The systems and techniques disclosed herein provide tutorials for drawing three dimensional objects with accurate proportions and perspective. A user is able to select an object and a viewpoint to automatically generate a tutorial. Regardless of the object and viewpoint, an easy-to-use tutorial is produced that guides the user to draw the object with accurate proportions and perspective. Given a segmented 3D model of the object and a camera viewpoint, a sequence of steps for constructing the scaffold is determined. The sequence of steps is based on an intelligent selection of primitives and inter-primitive anchorings that provides an order for drawing the primitives and makes the scaffold easy to construct. The primitives and inter-primitive anchorings are selected from a rich set of possibilities that allow for some inaccuracies to reduce the difficulty of the tutorial. The primitives and inter-primitive anchoring are selected to balance the difficulty and the potential inaccuracy.

Abstract: Systems and techniques that synthesize an image with similar texture to a selected style image. A generator network is trained to synthesize texture images depending on a selection unit input. The training configures the generator network to synthesize texture images that are similar to individual style images of multiple style images based on which is selected by the selection unit input. The generator network can be configured to minimize a covariance matrix-based style loss and/or a diversity loss in synthesizing the texture images. After training the generator network, the generator network is used to synthesize texture images for selected style images. For example, this can involve receiving user input selecting a selected style image, determining the selection unit input based on the selected style image, and synthesizing texture images using the generator network with the selection unit input and noise input.

Abstract: Techniques described herein are directed to simulating lighting conditions of a real-world location in advance of beginning video production at the location. As described herein, captured data (e.g., captured images, captured video, and/or scanned three-dimensional data) of a candidate outdoor location may be used to generate a three dimensional model of the outdoor location. Thereafter, a simulation software application may be used to provide a graphical user interface for rendering the three dimensional model of the location under a variety of different lighting conditions. In particular implementations, the simulation software application may be used to render the location under a variety of different light conditions corresponding to different times of day.

Abstract: Improving the visibility of the dark portion and to prevent the degradation of image quality caused by excessive correction. A reflectance calculation unit is storing a parameter RGain for adjusting the amplitude of a reflectance component R. An illumination light correction unit generates a corrected illumination light component L1 from an illumination light component L and a formula L1=(log(LAmp*L+1))/(log(LAmp+1)). An image resynthesis unit obtains a corrected illumination light component L? from L?=LGain*L1+(1?LGain)*L. The image resynthesis unit also calculates a corrected image Iout from the corrected illumination light component L? and the corrected reflectance R?, as well as from a formula Iout=exp(log L?+RGain(log I?log L)). The value of the corrected illumination light component (L?) is determined based on the ratio (LGain) at which the output value of the correction function (L1) and the original illumination light component (L) are combined.

Abstract: The present invention belongs to the field of printing control technology, and is especially one kind of printing control method with reducing printing memory requirement. The available printing technology always needs complicated segment forming gratings in advance and occupying great amount of memory. The printing control method of the present invention includes interpreting the page data as banded intermediate format data, calculating the time for forming grating of each band of the intermediate format data, pre-analyzing the bands with time for forming grating greater than the printing time, and arranging the job of forming grating of the complicated bands in the idle print time as far as possible. The said method can reduce the band number of forming gratings in advance and reduce the printing memory requirement.

Abstract: The invention relates to an image forming apparatus with a department management function connected to computers provided in plural departments, respectively, via a network. The image forming apparatus has a communication interface with external apparatuses to which addresses different from one another notified for the respective computers of the plural departments are allocated, respectively. When, from the computer of each of the departments, a print job including an address notified to the department and print data is transmitted via the network, the image forming apparatus receives this print job with the communication interface. The image forming apparatus discriminates a department that has transmitted this print job according to a correspondence relation with the addresses allocated to the communication interface, performs counting by department, and causes the printing unit to execute printing.
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to automatically generating a dynamic set of metadata from digitized hardcopy media. The technique includes scanning the image side and non-image side of a plurality of hardcopy media. A dynamic digital metadata record of each of the plurality of hardcopy media is created and used for manipulating each of the plurality of hardcopy media.
