  • Patent number: 8082222
Abstract: This disclosure relates generally to the field of Configuration Management Databases (CMDBs). One embodiment of a user interface embodying the present invention is an extension of the process for creating CMDB classes and is therefore readily available for use by someone with knowledge of CMDB administration. The CMDB administrator is thus relieved from having to understand in detail the technologies and interfaces used by the Management Data Repository (MDR) sources. The result of setting up a relation from a CMDB data structure to an MDR data structure by a CMDB administrator may be represented by one or more new CMDB class(es) for the MDR data. The related MDR may then be accessed by an existing CMDB application using already existing CMDB interfaces. The instances of the new relationships and classes thus appear as if they were native instances stored in the CMDB.

  • Patent number: 8078617
Abstract: System and method for quickly selecting content items (e.g., documents) having highest ranking scores in response to a query for content items. Base scores for a plurality of content items are determined based on attributes of the content items. One or more attributes are extracted from the query, the base scores of at least some of the content items are adjusted based on relationships between the query attributes and the content item attributes. A subset of the plurality of content items having the highest adjusted scores are selected, and the selected subset of content items are output.

  • Patent number: 8068493
Abstract: The present invention provides a method and apparatus for registering to a designated router in a rendezvous point in an anycast group in a multicast communication network, wherein the rendezvous point implements a joint-registering based on registering status of all rendezvous points in the anycast group. The main rendezvous point sends to the designated router the Register Stop message only when all rendezvous points in the anycast group do not need the Register message from the designated router; when any one of other rendezvous points does not need the Register message, sending the Register message to it is stopped. With the method and apparatus of the present invention, the cases resulting in the interruption of subscriber terminal multicast traffic can be reduced, and the CPU resource of the main rendezvous point and bandwidth resources between it and other rendezvous points are saved.

  • Patent number: 8045480
Abstract: A communication system in which a profile of codecs is loaded at the originating end. The originating end sends the profile of codecs to the terminating end and receives in return an indication of which codec to use. The originating end and the terminating end create a reduced profile that includes the codec identified by the terminating side and its peers. The peers are codecs that use the same amount of resources as the selected codec or that use less resources than the selected codec. Even though the reduced profile includes more than one codec, packets are coded and decoded using only the codec identified by a bit map that is available to the DSP channel at both the originating end and the terminating end. At a later time a change can be made to a different codec in the reduced profile by changing the bitmap and without closing and re-opening the channel.

  • Patent number: 8045508
Abstract: A method for transmitting a plurality of control information through a PUCCH or a PUSCH is disclosed. The method includes transmitting first control information, and transmitting second control information. The transmission of the first control information and the transmission of the second control information are performed in units of one subframe and are performed once per predetermined period, respectively. In a subframe in which the transmission of the second control information is to be simultaneously performed with the transmission of the first control information, the second control information is excluded for transmission or the first and the second information are simultaneously transmitted, according to the configuration of a closed-loop system or an open-loop system.

  • Patent number: 8027332
Abstract: Call routing to user communication devices is facilitated. According to an example embodiment, a call-routing switch arrangement uses data in a programmable database to associate or match incoming calls with destination user-communication devices for users employing two or more user identifiers. The incoming calls are then routed to the destination user-communication devices in response to the match. In some applications, the user identifiers include local and virtual telephone numbers for a particular user, the local number pertaining to a geographical location relating to the user's communication device or to a service via which the user's communication device is connected (e.g., a mobile telephone service), and the virtual telephone number to a different geographical location.

  • Patent number: 8019876
Abstract: Coordination of information at the network-based level between call centers connectable over a telecommunications network, such as the telephone network, and a packet network, such as the Internet, creates improved integration of and bonding between a customer's interaction with a Web site and with a call center. Information about the customer and the customer's Web interaction are delivered to the call center agent along with the call, leading to increased productivity and efficiency in call handling as well as improved call routing. Calls may be routed to existing call centers based upon information from the Web experience, and information from the user's Web interaction is shared with the call center. Web interaction information is passed to existing call centers using known call center external control methods, such as DNIS signaling. Information about the Web experience may also be “whispered” to the call center agent, and an agent may “push” Web pages for review by the customer.

  • Patent number: 7995468
Abstract: A communication apparatus (receiving apparatus) configured to receive a communication parameter selects, when an access point itself is active as a providing apparatus or the communication apparatus detects an access point (active access point) that is communicable with an active providing apparatus, the access point as the access point to be connected using wireless connection. If the communication apparatus does not detect an active access point, the communication apparatus selects an access point (setup-completed access point) which is configured with a communication parameter that is different from the one that is set at the time of initialization, as the access point to be connected using wireless connection.

  • Patent number: 7990874
Abstract: A method of receiving data packets asynchronously transmitted by a plurality of user terminals using a spread-spectrum medium access protocol, comprises a step of cancelling interferences between colliding packets according to an innovative “sliding window” processing algorithm. A gateway receiver is adapted for carrying out interference cancellation using this algorithm. Asynchronous packet transmission from a user terminal is controlled by estimating a parameter indicative of the quality of information transmission through a communication channel; and inhibiting or allowing data transmission depending on a comparison between said estimated parameter and an adaptively varying threshold. A user terminal comprises transmission control means adapted for carrying out such a method.

  • Patent number: 7986617
Abstract: The invention is directed toward an automated system and process to provide resiliency to a network infrastructure where traditional established methods tend to fail. The system analyzes the underlying physical characteristics of the network topology to identify physically diverse backup routing paths among nodes in the network. The system takes as input the number of diverse paths desired and a characteristic(s) used to choose the most desirable paths, such as delay, flow, or cost. The invention searches for multiple solutions for the selected number of diverse paths within the network.

  • Patent number: 7969893
Abstract: A technique for identifying deviations in patterns of data traffic between host devices communicating over a network involves establishing a baseline traffic distribution by categorizing data traffic during a learning period. The baseline traffic distribution includes a list of categories and a metric value and a measure of variability of the metric value for each category in the list. An observed traffic distribution is generated by categorizing data traffic during an observation period. The observed traffic distribution includes a list of categories and a metric value associated with each category in the list. An alarm is generated in response to at least one of the metric values of the categories of the observed traffic distribution deviating significantly from the corresponding metric value in the baseline traffic distribution based on a pair-wise comparison of the observed metric values with respective thresholds established for corresponding categories of the baseline traffic distribution.
