  • Patent number: 8577767
Abstract: A method and system for processing communications between travel service providers and travel insurers where travel service providers use different messaging formats. A travel service provider transmits itinerary data to a travel insurer in one messaging format. The travel insurer may then convert the itinerary data into a format compatible with the travel insurer's system and determine an optimal policy choice based on the itinerary data. The travel insurer may then transmit this choice to the travel service provider in the travel service provider's preferred messaging format, and the travel service provider offers the product to the consumer through the travel service provider's interface.

  • Patent number: 8571958
Abstract: Methods and systems for providing estimated insurance quotes/premiums are described herein. After analyzing rate factors, a subset of rate factors are selected that yield a fairly accurate estimated insurance premium from a minimum amount of information easily obtainable from a user. The user inputs a value from a predetermined set of allowable inputs (value input filter). After receiving and analyzing the user inputs, the system generates one or more estimates and displays the one or more estimates to the user, e.g., via a web page. When multiple estimates are provided, the multiple estimates may differ based on the level of coverage, add-on features, or both. Readily known non-personal identifying information is preferably requested and used, thereby alleviating privacy concerns while still being able to provide an estimate to the user very quickly, e.g., under 30 seconds, once all the requested information is obtained.

  • Patent number: 8548900
Abstract: To improve the performance of a market data platform, a market data platform includes a hardware offload solution that allows received financial information to bypass the software portion of the platform and be written directly into memory. The hardware offload solution includes a field programmable gate array (FPGA) that takes over responsibility for some tasks that were previously performed in software. These tasks include performing line arbitrage on financial information feed pairs to ensure that an accurate copy of the financial information feed is obtained and stored in memory as quickly as possible. These tasks also include performing memory paging in order to allow financial orders to be stored and accessed in an efficient manner.

  • Patent number: 8510196
Abstract: Systems and methods provide for an automated system for analyzing damage and processing claims associated with an insured item, such as a vehicle. An enhanced claims processing server may analyze damage associated with the insured item using photos/video transmitted to the server from a user device (e.g., a mobile device). The mobile device may receive feedback from the server regarding the acceptability of submitted photos/video, and if the server determines that any of the submitted photos/video is unacceptable, the mobile device may capture additional photos/video until all of the data are deemed acceptable. To aid in damage analysis, the server may also interface with various internal and external databases storing reference images of undamaged items and cost estimate information for repairing previously analyzed damages to similar items. Further still, the server may generate a payment for compensating a claimant for repair of the insured item.

  • Patent number: 8510195
Abstract: The invention relates to a system for providing a site-related weather insurance contract for a product, such as an agricultural product like seeds or fertilizer. The system comprises a central data processing unit (CDPU), a remote measurement device (RMD) for the measurement of site-dependent weather parameters, and a remote data processing unit (RDPU) of a retailer. The RMD measures and provides the site-dependent weather parameters as remotely measured data. The RMD communicates the remotely measured data to a CDPU. The RDPU generates a data set (RDPU data) an insurance ID code and communicates the RDPU data to a CDPU. The CDPU receives the RDPU data and generates an individual contract confirmation code and communicates it to at least one remote communication device (UCD). The invention further relates to a method and a retailer remote communication device (RRCD), computer software, and a data storage medium, each usable with the system.

  • Patent number: 8504461
Abstract: A financial instrument, and associated systems and methods, provide direct financial incentives to individual investors to maintain and improve their health. The financial product has a base rate of return which is based on the investor's well-being category or other characteristics. The base rate of return is retrospectively adjusted at the end of the time period based on changes in the investor's well-being category, with improvements in well-being category typically resulting in an increased rate of return. A number of integrated analytic and predictive models are used to determine investor morbidity risk, the well-being categories, investor migration between categories, the investor payouts, and the portfolio allocation for investments underlying the financial instrument.
