Abstract: Pharmaceutical delivery systems containing 7-dimethyl-6-deoxy-6-demethyltetracycline or a non-toxic acid addition salt thereof comprising mixtures or separate administration units of pH sensitive polymer coated spherical granules adapted to release the minocycline in a medium having a pH of in the range of from about 4.0 to about 7.5 and coated or uncoated quick release granules adapted to release minocycline in a medium having a pH of less than about 3.9 or minocycline powder, pH adapted multi-coated compositions and oral dosage unit form liquids, capsules or tablets containing the above are provided. These systems and formulations provide at least minimum therapeutic blood levels of minocycline for at least about 24 hours when administered to a subject only once-a-day. Methods for the preparation of the systems and formulations are provided as well.

Abstract: Benzoic acid esters of a polyalkoxylated block copolymer, i.e. PLURONICS, exhibit enhanced characteristics that make these esters ideally suited for skin and hair care compositions. These esters demonstrate enhanced capabilities as foam boosters, emollients, conditioners, clarifiers, solubilizers, and carriers (dilutents). In addition, both oxybenzone and benzocaine can be solubilized by these esters.

Abstract: A method and composition for topically treating acne and acneiform dermal disorders includes applying an amount of an antibiotic selected from the group consisting of ampicillin, amoxicillin, other aminopenicillins, and cephalosporin, and derivatives and analogs thereof, effective to treat the acne and acneiform dermal disorders. The antibiotic is blended with a carrier suitable for topical application to dermal tissues. The carrier is selected from the group consisting of an aqueous liquid, an alcohol base, a water soluble gel, a lotion, an ointment base, petrolatum, a nonaqueous liquid base, a mineral oil base, a blend of mineral oil and petrolatum, a suspension of solid particles in a liquid, and a suspension of an ion-exchange resin in water.
