  • Patent number: 8793253
Abstract: The present invention discloses methods, systems, and tools for unified semantic ranking of compositions of ontological subjects. The method breaks a composition into a plurality of partitions as well as its constituent ontological subjects of different orders and builds a participation matrix indicating the participation of ontological subjects of the composition in other ontological subjects, i.e. the partitions, of the composition. Using the participation information of the ontological subjects into each other a similarity matrix is built from which the semantic importance ranks of the partitions of the composition are calculated. The method, systematically, enables the calculation of the semantic ranks of the ontological subjects of different orders of the composition. Various systems for implementing the method and numerous applications and services are disclosed.

  • Patent number: 8719316
Abstract: The reliable writing of data to multiple data stores using a write agent. The overall write operation is managed by a write manager that is communicatively coupled to the write agent and to a certain data store. Upon determined that multiple data stores are to be written to, the write manager first instructs the write agent to perform a delay write to other data store(s). The delay write means that the write agents waits a delay time before performing the write unless instructed in the meantime to more immediately perform the write, and if a delay passes, does not perform the write without first checking that the write has been made to the certain data store. After instructing the write agent to delay write, the write manager attempts to write to the certain data store. Upon successfully writing to the certain data store, the write manager may instruct the write agent to proceed immediately.

  • Patent number: 8700670
Abstract: A method, in one embodiment, can include receiving a key and associated data via a computing device. Furthermore, the method can include searching a B+ tree data structure using the key to find a leaf node. The B+ tree data structure is stored by a persistent storage coupled to the computing device. The B+ tree data structure can include a first plurality of nodes that each contains a key-value entry that is not maintained in a sorted order based on its key. In addition, the key and associated data are appended to the leaf node. A sector that includes the leaf node and the key and associated data can be flushed to the persistent storage.

  • Patent number: 8661037
Abstract: A system and method for indexing documents in a data storage system includes generating a single document hash table in storage memory for a single document using an index construction in a multithreaded and scalable configuration wherein multiple threads are each assigned work to reduce synchronization between threads. The single document hash table includes partitioning the single document and indexing strings of partitioned portions of the single document to create a minor hash table for each document sub-part; generating a document level hash table from the minor hash tables; updating a stream level hash table for the strings which maps every string to a global identifier; and generating a term reordered array from the document level hash table.

  • Patent number: 8606792
Abstract: In general, the subject matter described in this specification can be embodied in methods, systems, and program products. A score for each of a plurality of authors of posts submitted to a server system is determined. The score for each individual author in the plurality is based on a score of one or more authors in the plurality that have requested to subscribe to a stream of posts that the individual author submits to the server system. A particular post submitted by a particular author in the plurality is received at the server system and from a computing device. A score is assigned to the particular post based on a score of the particular author. The particular post is transmitted from the server system to computing devices that are associated with authors who have requested to subscribe to posts by the particular author.

  • Patent number: 8463808
Abstract: In one embodiment, searching documents includes generating a query conceptual graph for a search query. The query conceptual graph has graph terms representing concept types. A set of conceptually similar terms is identified for each graph term, and the set is mapped to the concept type represented by the graph term. Documents are searched in accordance with the set of conceptually similar terms. In another embodiment, selecting a document includes determining documents that satisfy a search query expressed as a query conceptual graph. A document conceptual graph that has graph terms representing concept types is generated for each document. A set of conceptually similar terms is identified for each graph term, where the set is mapped to the concept type represented by the graph term. A document is selected if terms of the sets associated with the document match terms associated with the query conceptual graph.
