Patent number: 7079275Abstract: A facsimile/email communication system for providing a user the ability to send emails from any standalone facsimile machine. The system does not require any additional hardware or software to be installed on equipment being used by a sender. The system further provides a user the ability to logon to a centralized web server and send facsimiles to any standalone fax machine. According to one aspect, the system receives a facsimile from a facsimile machine. The facsimile includes an email cover page having the email address of the intended recipient of the facsimile. The email address is extracted from the email cover page by optical character recognition. The facsimile is then converted into an email with the proper email format. The email is then transmitted to the extracted email address.Type: GrantFiled: May 28, 2002Date of Patent: July 18, 2006Assignee: MongoNetInventors: Matthew K. Henry, Christopher L. Fortescue

Patent number: 7038804Abstract: A method and system for transmitting a facsimile message uses a public-switched telecommunications network, the public-switched telecommunication network having a messaging platform capable of storing a plurality of facsimile messages. The initiation of a telephone call to a destination is detected, the content of the call including the facsimile message. If the destination is available at a first time to receive a telephone call, the facsimile message is transmitted. The facsimile message may be stored on the messaging platform only if the destination is unavailable at the first time, or every time a telephone call is initiated by the originating party. The method also provides for situations where a telephone call is redirected, where an inter-NPA seven digit dialing case has occurred, and where “busy” or “no_answer” triggers are implemented. If the facsimile message was stored, the facsimile message is transmitted at a second time if the destination is available.Type: GrantFiled: January 6, 2003Date of Patent: May 2, 2006Assignee: SBC Properties, L.P.Inventors: Jeffrey James Meek, William Harvey Meek, Gordon Lynn Blumenschein

Patent number: 6930810Abstract: A main CPU reads out CMY values as ? correction patch data from an NVRAM, and outputs a ? correction patch from a color printer section via a ? correction patch output section. The output ? correction patch (sheet) is read by a color scanner section 1 as RGB image data. The RGB image data is converted to CMY color signals by a color conversion section 131 and input to the main CPU via a buffer memory. The main CPU calculates patch read data from the CMY color signals and compares it with the ? correction patch data stored in the NVRAM. The main CPU then calculates an inverse function of a curve of the patch read data and forms ? correction tables of four colors, C, M, Y and K. The ? correction tables are used for full-color ? correction. On the other hand, the main CPU performs an arithmetic operation (error correction) of an error correction table h(x), with an output of black (K) at screen angle ?63° being f(x) and an output of mono-color black (K) at screen angle 90° being g(x).Type: GrantFiled: November 28, 2000Date of Patent: August 16, 2005Assignees: Kabushiki Kaisha Toshiba, Toshiba TEC Kabushika KaishaInventor: Masatsugu Hirayama

Patent number: 6922266Abstract: In the color management system, output profile of each connected output device is detected and a color reproduction region which is a region in color space is obtained. The color reproduction region is a range of color which can be reproduced by the output device. The conjunction of all color reproduction regions is obtained as a common color reproduction region and an edit profile restricted to the common color reproduction region is generated and updated. The range of the color information in image data for image editing is restricted to the common color reproduction region. Thereby, color space compression is unnecessary when outputting an image from each output device, and output images from output devices have the same color tone.Type: GrantFiled: November 30, 2000Date of Patent: July 26, 2005Assignee: Minolta Co., Ltd.Inventor: Naoko Hiramatsu

Patent number: 6897980Abstract: An image reading system prescans and/or scans a film with magnetic recording and image data to be stored in a film cartridge after the film is developed. The image reading system employs a one-dimensional CCD and is capable of recording/reading retrievable ID numbers on a magnetic recording part. A thumbnail display simultaneously displays all image and magnetic information of all frames of a film, and selected frames to be scanned can be easily identified and compared after obtaining the image data of such film through prescanning. Magnetic recording information and image information are rapidly read during prescanning and selected frames are then scanned with more refinement as compared to the coarse scanning of the film during prescanning.Type: GrantFiled: September 19, 2001Date of Patent: May 24, 2005Assignee: Nikon CorporationInventors: Toshiya Aikawa, Toru Ochiai, Eisaku Maeda, Maki Suzuki

Patent number: 6885481Abstract: Automatic filename assignation logic automatically assigns a filename and extension to a scanned image, thus eliminating the need for the user to interactively assign the filename. The automatic filename assignation logic together with the document analysis and processing logic determines the appropriate filename under which to save the scanned document by searching a predefined region within the document for a filename and an extension. A user may preselect the region or the region may be a default region applied to all scanned documents unless the automatic filename assignation logic is otherwise instructed. Alternatively, the presence of a notation, such as a “POST-IT®” note on a page is searched for, and, if discovered, the information contained in the notation (the desired filename and extension) becomes the name under which the automatic filename assignation logic saves the document.Type: GrantFiled: February 11, 2000Date of Patent: April 26, 2005Assignee: Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P.Inventor: Julie T Dawe

Patent number: 6873745Abstract: The subject matter of the invention is to add information to image data of multicolor image and monochromatic image. An image processing apparatus capable of adding information on raw data performs a dispersion conversion on the spectrum of the additional information by multiplying a code sequence of the PN sequence generator 114 by the additional data which is inputted from the input terminal 111 and converted into serial data in P/S converter 112. At this time, the data sequence transmitted from the image signal processor 102 to the printer engine 107 is converted by the scan converter 109 to correspond to the spatial axis for desperation. The converted data sequence is added to the output from the adder 113 by the adder 110, and reconverted to the original scan by the scan inverter 115.Type: GrantFiled: November 28, 2001Date of Patent: March 29, 2005Assignee: Canon Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Mitsuru Owada, Yoshitake Nagashima, Takeo Kimura

Patent number: 6833934Abstract: As described above, a user selects desired ones of the transmission results and then depresses the start key. Then, only the selected transmission results are extracted from the transmission results recorded in a transmission management section 18a and are printed in a transmission management record. Thus, only the transmission results selected from many, which the user wishes to check, can be printed. This prevents a waste of paper sheets. Moreover, since only the transmission results the user has selected are printed in the form of a transmission management record, the user can check and confirm them easily.Type: GrantFiled: February 10, 2000Date of Patent: December 21, 2004Assignees: Kabushiki Kaisha Toshiba, Toshiba Tec Kabushiki KaishaInventor: Tatsuo Suehiro

Patent number: 6781721Abstract: A facsimile apparatus is connected to a telephone network and to an internet network. The facsimile apparatus is capable of receiving E-mail data via the internet network and transmitting facsimile data to a facsimile destination via the telephone network. A detector detects a password indicating an instruction to relay the received E-mail data to the facsimile destination, and a telephone number of the facsimile destination, in a mail address of the E-mail data. A generator, when the detector detects the password and the telephone number, deletes the password from the mail address, and generates header information including a mail address after deleting the password. A converter converts the E-mail data, including the header information, into facsimile data. A transmitter transmits the converted facsimile data with the header information, but without the password to the facsimile destination indicated by the telephone number.Type: GrantFiled: September 5, 2001Date of Patent: August 24, 2004Assignee: Panasonic Communications Co., Ltd.Inventors: Kiyoshi Toyoda, Kumi Okada
