  • Patent number: 9907904
Abstract: A drug delivery device or patch-like delivery device which employs a spring force and an inclined surface to apply pressure on a fluid reservoir, thereby delivering medicament to a user's body. The slope of the inclined surface may be engineered to control the drug delivery rate. The device may be low profile and wearable, for example in the form of a patch. A visual indicator of the amount of medicament delivered or remaining may be incorporated, for example via a transparent window that shows the progression of an inclined surface as it presses on the reservoir. The device may incorporate mechanisms for automatic extension and retraction of a cannula at the beginning and end of drug delivery. Drug delivery rate may be limited with flow restrictors, and by using a two-reservoir system with a viscous liquid displacing a reservoir containing the medicament.

  • Patent number: 9889259
Abstract: A fluid transfer device or connection with a fluid transfer tip that has a tapered friction fitting for a corresponding hub. A lever member is pivotally mounted to move relative to the fluid transfer tip. A latch such as a screw thread is mounted on the lever member to engage the hub and provide a positive connection e.g., screw fit in addition to the friction fitting. The lever member may optionally be resiliently biased by a spring. The hub is disconnected from the tip by pivoting the lever member to release the positive connection with the hub and to subsequently release the hub from the friction fitting.

  • Patent number: 9844630
Abstract: A locking mechanism is provided for use with a reservoir and a reservoir holder so as to prevent unwanted tampering with the reservoir. The mechanism comprises a main body with an aperture that is coupled to the reservoir. A hinged flange is provided on the main body. The flange folds inwards at the pivot point provided by the hinge, toward the aperture of the main body, allowing the mechanism to pass over the ferrule of the reservoir. Once the mechanism is placed over the cartridge, the flange folds toward the reservoir at the pivot point, flexing away from the main body. The flange rests against the underside of the reservoir ferrule, thereby retaining the reservoir within the locking mechanism. The locking mechanism may be for use with either a disposable or a reusable delivery device.

  • Patent number: 9821118
Abstract: An automatic mixing device, an actuating device removably mounted to the automatic mixing device and a retractable syringe having the automatic mixing device are provided. The actuating device has an initially compressed spring and a trigger member that initiates spring decompression to drive depression of a mixing plunger of the automatic mixing device. A seal located in the outer chamber is capable of axial movement upon depression of the mixing plunger, from a first position in sealing engagement with one or more apertures in an inner barrel to a second position intermediate the apertures and vents in an outer barrel. This allows depression of the mixing plunger to force a first substance from the outer chamber through the apertures to mix with a second substance in an inner chamber of the inner barrel. The mixed substance in the inner barrel is then delivered by the syringe with subsequent needle retraction.
