Patent number: 7060799Abstract: The present invention provides a novel method for the identification and clonal isolation of antibodies that bind to unique epitopes. The method is based on the use of antibodies as solid phase capture reagents to bind a known capture antibody epitope, thereby precluding the capture antibody epitope from being presented to a population of antibodies to be screened. The method is particularly suited for screening libraries of cloned antibodies, such as phage display combinatorial antibodies. An antibody specific for herpes simplex virus (HSV), was employed as a model for the assay.Type: GrantFiled: February 19, 2002Date of Patent: June 13, 2006Assignee: The Scripps Research InstituteInventors: Dennis R. Patent number: 7052830Abstract: Novel hepatitis C virus (HCV) polypetides are provided which are not encoded by the standard HCV open reading frame. These alternate reading frame polypeptides are useful, inter alia, in vaccine compositions, in diagnosing HCV infection, and as therapeutic targets.Type: GrantFiled: June 9, 1999Date of Patent: May 30, 2006Inventors: Andrea D. Patent number: 7010500Abstract: A system and a method of providing on-line subscription services from a subscription server to a user of a mobile terminal through the Internet. The subscription server receives from the mobile terminal user-specific information relating to the user's mobile terminal capabilities, the user's preferences of products, and the user's financial information. The subscription server sends to the mobile terminal at least locally or remotely retrieved information related to a product based on the user-specific information. The subscription server receives from the mobile terminal a request indicating whether the user wishes to either cancel or purchase the product. The subscription server cancels the product when the user indicates so, and downloads the product to the mobile terminal when the user desires to purchase the product.Type: GrantFiled: December 30, 1999Date of Patent: March 7, 2006Assignee: Nokia CorporationInventor: Ari Aarnio

Patent number: 6979534Abstract: The invention relates to methods of agglutinating or capturing cells comprising providing a mixture comprising a population of cells and a population of bacteriophage expressing a first antibody on the surface of the bacteriophage, the first antibody being specific for an antigen-bearing moiety expressed by at least a portion of the cells in the cell population, wherein the first antibody binds to the portion of the cells causing the bacteriophage to also bind to the portion of the cells, adding to the mixture a second antibody specific for the bacteriophage, wherein binding of the second antibody to bacteriophage bound to the portion of the cells causes the portion of the cells to agglutinate or be captured.Type: GrantFiled: September 29, 1999Date of Patent: December 27, 2005Assignee: The Trustees of the University of PennsylvaniaInventor: Donald L. Patent number: 6970838Abstract: A method of processing an online purchase request from a customer includes steps of receiving a first online purchase request for a first item; retrieving pre-stored information about the customer and generating a first quote that includes an identification of the first item and the retrieved information. Modifications may be made to the first quote, which lasts at least until a consolidation interval has elapsed. The first quote is converted to a first executable order for the first item when a quote conversion process determines that the first quote has remained unmodified at least for the consolidation interval. A second online purchase request for a second item may be added to the first quote when the second online purchase request is received before the first quote is converted into the first order or when the first quote has remained unmodified for a period of time that is less than the consolidation interval.Type: GrantFiled: August 24, 2000Date of Patent: November 29, 2005Assignee: Oracle International CorporationInventors: Sudesh Kamath, Tyson Hom, Allen Lee

Patent number: 6965871Abstract: A method produces a shopping list consisting of one or more items, wherein at least one item in the shopping list is a perishable item. The method operates in an e-commerce site and includes the steps of: storing one or more consumer shopping lists of respective consumers at the e-commerce site; storing a list of items previously purchased by one or more consumers from the e-commerce site; receiving a request from a consumer for at least one consumer shopping list; and determining if the request from the consumer is from a consumer that has previously purchased one or more perishable items from the e-commerce site. If the consumer has previously purchased one or more perishable items from the e-commerce site, then the method performs the sub-steps of: reviewing if any items previously purchased are perishable items with expiration dates; and adding to the at least one consumer shopping list one or more perishable items that have exceeded a predefined expiration date range.Type: GrantFiled: May 8, 2000Date of Patent: November 15, 2005Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Robert M.
