  • Patent number: 5803716
Abstract: A scroll machine has an intermediate pressure cavity which is operable to open and close a leakage path between the discharge zone and the suction zone of the scroll machine. The leakage path is closed when intermediate pressurized fluid is supplied to the cavity and the leakage path is open when the cavity is open to the suction zone of the compressor. A valve (102) which can be mechanical or electrical is used to open and close a passageway extending between the cavity and the suction zone of the machine. A high pressure relief valve is incorporated into the design of the compressor to prevent slugging. The high pressure relief valve will release the intermediate pressurized fluid to suction and/or discharge when the pressure within the intermediate pressure cavity exceeds a predetermined value.

  • Patent number: 5803717
Abstract: A refrigerant compressor arrangement is disclosed, having a compressor which is arranged in a housing and which has a suction connection, the housing being provided with a suction connector which is joined to the suction connection by way of a suction channel. In such an arrangement, it is desirable to increase the opportunity of the compressor to move, that is, to reduce noise, without at the same time having to accept a deterioration in efficiency. To that end, at its housing end the suction channel is in the form of a telescope tube which is capable of being telescoped into the suction connector.

  • Patent number: 5803711
Abstract: A solenoid valve for a water purification system. The solenoid valve contains a fluid valve which can move between an opened position and a closed position, and a coil which moves the valve to the open position when a first voltage is supplied to the coil and maintains the valve in the open position as a second voltage is supplied to the coil. The coil is coupled to a control circuit which initially supplies the first voltage to the coil when the valve is to be opened, and then reduces the first voltage to the second voltage after the valve is in the open position.

  • Patent number: 5799690
Abstract: A volumetric pump valve for pumps for controlling fluid flow, such as in pumps for administering intravenous fluids, comprises a housing formed with first and second cavities, an inlet conduit leading through the housing into the first cavity, an outlet conduit leading through the housing from the second cavity and a passage between the first and second cavities to allow fluid to flow between them. A resilient sealing means is disposed adjacent the passage for selectively sealing the passage to prevent fluid flow between the cavities during low pressure events in the first cavity such that the fluid flows in the direction of the second cavity. A ball disposed on the side of the resilient sealing means opposite the passage is moveable toward the passage to cause the resilient sealing means to selectively seal the passage.

  • Patent number: 5800139
Abstract: An electromagnetic pump has a solenoid reciprocating a piston that abuts the ball of a first, one-way ball valve coaxially aligned with the piston axis. In the abutting position the piston closes the valve and provides a pump chamber of very small volume. An second, one-way outlet valve is located orthogonal to the first valve to provide a compact structure and further minimize the volume of the pump chamber. A plurality of these inlet valves can be arranged so the pistons are parallel and activated by a single, solenoid activated piston, with the outlet valves being radially orientated to provide a compact structure that simultaneously provides precise fluid amounts to a plurality of locations, such as multiple pistons of a two cycle engine.

  • Patent number: 5800135
Abstract: A vane cell (sliding vane) pump having a flow control valve (13) with a control piston (17). The control piston (17) operates as a pressure regulator, wherein a differential pressure that occurs with increasing pump speed is used as the measuring valve for the directly diverted conveyed flow. The directly diverted conveyed flow is introduced via a spray channel (25) into a distributing section (20), which is connected via curved suction arms (21,22) with suction zones (23,24). The distributing section (20) and the suction arms (21,22) nestle against a driveshaft such that the driveshaft acts as a flow divider. Additionally, the spray channel (25) terminates at the center of the distributing section (20) so that the sprayed off oil and the suction oil conveyed by the suction channel (18) is evenly divided between both suction zones (23,24). Since the hydraulic oil lubricates the driveshaft (12), no cavitation or abrasion can occur in this area.
