  • Patent number: 4645133
Abstract: A liner for the outlet port of a rod mill including a cylindrical body provided on the peripheral edge of an opening of the liner and projecting outwardly through the outlet port to prevent a rod from exiting the liner. The projecting length of the cylindrical body on the side close to the end portion of the barrel of the rod mill is preferably longer than that on the opposite side.

  • Patent number: 4562974
Abstract: A tool assembly (4) for working a material (R) such as breaking rock. Assembly (4) includes a tool mounting (17) having a fixed section (18), and a movable section (19) for movement relative to the fixed section (18) in a working direction (D.sub.W) and an opposite return direction (D.sub.R). A tool (34) is mounted on the movable section (19) for movement relative thereto in the working direction (D.sub.W) and return direction (D.sub.R). Limit means (49,50) on tool (34) limits relative movement between tool (34) and movable section (19) to between a tool operative position and a tool operated position. During a working stroke, tool (34) is engaged with material (R) and moved in working direction (D.sub.W) from the operative position to the operated position and thereafter in unison with the movable section (19) under action of a working force applied to tool (34) thereby to work material (R).

  • Patent number: 4560112
Abstract: Apparatus for comminuting scrap materials, particularly fiber-reinforced resilient materials such as scrap tires, includes a pair of generally cylindrical cutter rolls mounted for rotation with parallel cutter discs of each roll intermeshed closely between cutter discs of the cutter roll. The cutter discs on each cutter roll are of a series of thicknesses, and each cutter disc includes a plurality of cutter segments attached about its periphery. Cutter segments are reversible end-for-end to present a sharp edge for drawing scrap material between the intermeshed cutter rolls. A method of sharpening the apparatus includes removing worn cutter segments from the cutter discs, grinding lateral surfaces of each cutter segment, and thereafter fastening the cutter segments on a next thinner one of the cutter discs. Annular clearing rings surround the shaft of each cutter roll between neighboring cutter discs of that cutter roll.

  • Patent number: 4451978
Abstract: A pneumatic spring counterbalance extensible link including a closed end cylinder with an end connector a piston and rod assembly within the cylinder and maintained therein by the crimped over end portion of the cylinder retaining a rod bushing and rod to cylinder seal. The cylinder is pressurized prior to assembly of the complete piston and rod into the cylinder. The piston assembly includes orifice by-pass means either in the piston periphery or in a piston ring, and the piston may include a fail-safe provision in the event the orifice is clogged. A crimping die assembly is used in assembling and completing final assembly of the counterbalance components while simultaneously maintaining the link in a pressurized environment, utilizing sealed arrangement between the crimping dies to maintain pressurization of the interior of the dies and the counterbalance components prior to assembly of the components.
