  • Patent number: 11579674
Abstract: A system is described that turns off a high power, power supply when a device no longer needs high power. A low power, power supply or a rechargeable battery provides power to determine when the device again needs high power. The low power supply consumes a minimum possible power when the device does not need high power and the power rechargeable battery is not charged. That is, the high power and low power, power supplies are turned on or off based on the real time power consumption need of the device and the charged state of the battery. The power need of the device is monitored by a current shunt monitoring circuit and a control signal monitoring circuit.

  • Patent number: 11575266
Abstract: This application relates to a converter in a photovoltaic power generation system and a parametric curve scanning method for a photovoltaic string. A parametric curve includes a current-voltage curve or a power-voltage curve. The scanning method includes: controlling an output voltage of the photovoltaic string to change from a first endpoint voltage of a first voltage range to a second endpoint voltage of the first voltage range according to a first preset rule, to scan a first parametric curve; controlling the output voltage of the photovoltaic string to change from a third endpoint voltage of a second voltage range to a fourth endpoint voltage of the second voltage range according to a second preset rule, to scan a second parametric curve. There is an intersection set between the first voltage range and the second voltage range. In this application, whether a scanned curve is affected by a light change may be determined based on the first parametric curve and the second parametric curve.

  • Patent number: 11569681
Abstract: This disclosure includes novel ways of implementing a power supply that powers a load. More specifically, a power supply includes a bidirectional power converter and a controller. The controller monitors a magnitude of an input voltage supplied from an input voltage source to a load. Based on a magnitude of the input voltage, the controller switches between a first mode of operating the bidirectional power converter to charge an energy storage resource using (a portion of power provided by) the input voltage and a second mode of producing a backup voltage from the energy storage resource to power the load as a substitute to the input voltage such as when the input voltage is below a threshold value.

  • Patent number: 11545312
Abstract: A stored energy-type circuit breaker includes a sensor that operates as a full open sensor, and that is used to prevent the circuit breaker from closing in response to either a closing signal or a manual operation. The full open sensor exhibits a first output condition when the moveable contact is in a fully open position and a second output condition when the moveable contact begins to leave the fully open position. An electronic trip unit (ETU) is electrically connected to the sensor and, when in a close break mode, blocks the circuit breaker from closing. The ETU does this by, upon detecting that the sensor is in the second output condition, generating a signal that will cause the breaker's opening spring to return the moveable contact to the fully open position.

  • Patent number: 11545836
Abstract: A photovoltaic energy storage system includes an energy storage device, an inverter, a photovoltaic array device, a DC/DC conversion device and a controller. When an output voltage of the photovoltaic array device is greater than or equal to a predetermined threshold value, the photovoltaic energy storage system is operated in a first working mode. When the output voltage of the photovoltaic array device is lower than the predetermined threshold value, the photovoltaic energy storage system is operated in a second working mode. The DC/DC conversion device includes a bypass switch and a DC/DC converter. When the photovoltaic energy storage system is operated in the second working mode, the bypass switch is turned on and the DC/DC converter is disabled. Consequently, the electric power of the energy storage device is transmitted to the inverter through the bypass switch.

  • Patent number: 11527894
Abstract: A plurality of photovoltaic (PV) modules are configured into a PV string to generate a PV string voltage in a solar power system. The number of PV modules per PV string is based on operating conditions at the solar power system site and cause the PV string voltage to exceed a maximum voltage specification when operating at the lowest expected ambient temperature at the site, but only exceeds the maximum voltage specification for a limited number of occurrences for which the operating conditions at the site cause the PV string voltage to exceed the maximum voltage specification. Under control of a string voltage control circuit, voltage bypass circuits selectively bypass the bypass photovoltaic module so as to eliminate the PV module from the PV string voltage when the operating conditions at the site cause the PV string voltage to exceed the maximum voltage specification.
