  • Patent number: 4605334
Abstract: A mechanism is disclosed to provide pivotal motion between two movable members. The mechanism includes a hemispherical yoke connected to one of the movable members. A center support is connected to the remaining movable member and is nested within the yoke and spaced apart therefrom. A set of four radially projecting torsion bars are connected to the yoke and center support. The torsion bars are substantially coplanar and define a cross-shaped configuration in plan. Four braces are provided to interconnect adjacent torsion bars. Preferably, each of the torsion bars is surrounded by a tubular segment which is affixed to the radially outer end of the torsion bars. Preferably the radially inner portion of the torsion bar is supported by a rotatable bearing. The subject mechanism is low in profile, easy to mount and dismount, and provides a degree of elasticity in the vertical axis.

  • Patent number: 4603998
Abstract: A shaft connecting mechanism is provided between a slip-on hub and a power takeoff shaft by means of a control ring which extends around the slip-on hub and which is formed to have a pressure screw extend through a threaded bore therein, the pressure screw engaging against a clamping wedge in the slip-on hub which is formed with a trapezoidal configuration generally conforming with the configuration of an axiallly extending groove formed in the slip-on hub. Blocking members are arranged in radial apertures in the slip-on hub and pockets are formed in the control ring. The pressure screw when angularly aligned with the clamping wedge, places the control ring in the locked position and when the pressure screw and the clamping wedge are angularly unaligned, the blocking members enter the pockets in the control ring.

  • Patent number: 4602888
Abstract: The invention relates to a flexible metal joint in which two envelopes surrounding a metal core. The joint has, along its periphery which does not have an opening, at least two bosses, at which the envelope is not in contact with the joint core. A relative displacement between the flanges of the assembly between which the joint is secured consequently has no effect on the efficiency thereof.

  • Patent number: 4601603
Abstract: A ball joint in which the ball of a ball stud is accommodated in an accommodating section of a socket. The accommodating section has an annular seat on which a stopper is provided and a cap to be fitted in the accommodating section has another stopper. The two stoppers are received in a gap in an elastic ring-like member mounted in the annular seat such that a turning of the cap will increase the width of the gap to increase the diameter of the elastic ring-like member. In this state, the ball of the ball stud can be accommodated in the accommodating section of the socket.

  • Patent number: 4601498
Abstract: A subterranean well tool such as a packer and attached telescoping seal receptacle assembly is disclosed. The tool is fabricated from a plurality of threaded tubular members and annular deformable rings fabricated of a metal softer than the tubular members are used to establish metal-to-metal sealing integrity between interengagable component members. Upon full engagement, sealing integrity is established along the transverse interface between each tubular member and the deformed seal ring. During initial disengagement, sealing integrity is maintained along a bearing inclined interface between the ring and at least one tubular member adjacent the threaded connection.

  • Patent number: 4597687
Abstract: This invention relates to a process and a device for an angular connection of the end of a tube with one (or more) sheet metal element(s), quickly and reliably. The forward portion of a tubular shape (1) is contracted by force-fitting in a ring (2) whose outside dimensions are approximately equal to those of the opening (4) and the inside dimensions, less than the initial outside dimensions of the tubular shape, and whose rear end (6) is flush with the rear face (7) of the sheet metal (3), this ring (2) being compressed on the thickness of the sheet metal (3) between the tubular shape (1) and the opening (4) in the sheet metal, while the end (10) of the tubular shape is flanged outward in a corolla on the rear face (7) of the sheet metal element. This process can be used in particular to attach rungs to side rails of a ladder or rods to rails of guard railings and also for making scaffolding or tube exchangers.

  • Patent number: 4592671
Abstract: A connector plate for erecting structures of varied configurations. The plate comprises a main body having connections formed thereon by which the ends of six different struts can be connected together in a particular manner to form a cluster, with the number of strut ends of a cluster depending upon the selected function of the cluster respective to the building desired. The connector plate has a plane of symmetry which passes longitudinally through two of the six connections, with the two connections lying in different planes arranged at an obtuse angle respective to one another, and thereby provides attachment means by which a roof strut is connected to a vertical wall strut end. This positions the roof strut at about a fifteen degree roof pitch. There are also two right and two left strut connections lying to either side of the plane of symmetry, with the two right connections lying in the same plane and intersecting one another at a 60.degree. angle to thereby form the apex of a wall triangle.

  • Patent number: 4585369
Abstract: This connection means comprises a male connector (1) with a circular groove (5) and a female connector comprising a body (2), a cap (3) and a sleeve (4). The cap (3) hangs from the bottom end of body 2 within which it is able to partly slide. The cap has a bearing surface (7) bearing on the male connector (1) and its bottom part (9) covers the male connector. This bottom part is provided with a circular series of openings (10) each equipped with a finger (11) operable to slide radially. These fingers cooperate with windows (27) in a conical wall (26) of the sleeve (4). Connection is made by gravity, by body 2 pushing down on sleeve 4, which slides downward causing the fingers (11) to slide radially inward. Disconnection is accomplished by sending oil pressure through purposely provided channels (35, 33, 30) into a chamber (20), causing the sleeve (4) to slide up and the fingers (11) to retract.

  • Patent number: 4582448
Abstract: An assembly for allowing quick removal of a wheel from a vehicle is provided. The original wheel axle is replaced with an elongated axle which is adapted to extend through a block clamped to the vehicle frame. The block includes a spring-biased plunger which interfits with an annular groove at the end of the axle to lock the wheel and axle in place. The plunger is withdrawn from the groove to release the axle and allow one to readily remove the wheel.Alternately, an indented shaft fits within the groove to lock the axle. Upon rotation of the shaft to align the indentation over the groove, the axle may be released and withdrawn from the block.
