  • Patent number: 6213672
Abstract: A telescoping self-aligning tube having an inner tube dimensioned and configured to fit within an outer tube which is equipped with a guide slot for receiving a snap button, thereby preventing rotation of the inner tube relative to the outer tube. The guide slot allows the telescoping tube to self-align such that the user does not have to twist and maneuver the inner and outer tubes when changing the tube length in order to align a detent button with its detent hole. Embodiments include detent holes located both within and radially opposite with respect to the guide slot. A Foam insert may be located on both ends of the inner tube allow the telescoping tube to be buoyant. A special layer of rubberized or polymer coating protects the cleaned surface from abrasions due to contact with the telescoping tube.

  • Patent number: 6203236
Abstract: A device for the quick assembly and disassembly of an input rod (1) for operating a brake system and a brake pedal. A clasp (3) is secured to the input rod (1) connecting a spindle (4) fixed to the brake pedal. The clasp (3) has a guide yoke (31) which receives a retaining yoke (32) and blocking members (51,61) which maintain the retaining yoke (32) in a closed configuration with respect to the guide yoke (31). The blocking member comprise at least one lug (51) borne by the retaining yoke (32) which projects toward the guide yoke (31) and opening (61) in the guide yoke (31) which receives the lug (51) with the clasp (3) in moved to a closed configuration. On movement of the clasp (3) toward a closed configuration, parallel cheeks (325,326) of retaining yoke (31) which are squeezed together elastically expand when lug (51) enters opening (61) to lock the clasp (3) in the closed configuration.

  • Patent number: 6196758
Abstract: An accessory receiver is adapted for mechanical engagement with a level sensing device such as a carpenter's level or with other similar tools. The accessory receiver provides a receiver body for engagement within a box frame structure by spring action so that surfaces of the receiver and the level are forced into intimate contact. A pair of springs forces a receiver body into a flush position on the face of a box frame. A keyhole slot in the receiver is adapted for receiving a shaft for an accessory and for capturing it with snap-action onto an alignment upset for true alignment of the accessory with the tool.

  • Patent number: 6193432
Abstract: A hook and unhooking coupling device for enabling a user to easily attach or remove a latch hook from a boat or other object. The inventive device includes a pole member, and an engaging member having an opening and a tongue member secured to the distal end of the pole. The engaging member comprises a first member secured to a second member having an open V-shaped cross sectional area. A first edge is secured to the first member and a second edge is secured to the second member while leaving the opening unobstructed. The engaging member is removably positionable about the eyelet member of a latch hook for opening the spring latch while simultaneously retaining the latch hook firmly thereby allowing the user to manipulate the pole member so that the latch hook is positioned about a desired hook.

  • Patent number: 6179514
Abstract: A telescopic tube joint has a sleeve, which is adapted to securely coupling an outer tube and an inner tube, and defines a locking chamber therein. At least two locking rings are received in the locking chamber of the sleeve, the locking rings are forced apart by a biasing member between the locking rings and cause the locking rings to press on the outer wall of the inner tube to hold the inner tube in place with respect to the outer tube. When a user squeezes the locking rings, the inner tube will slide freely in the outer tube.

  • Patent number: 6176637
Abstract: The present invention is a corner molding particularly useful in the construction of juvenile furniture. The corner molding has an elongate body with an interior, a first rounded side, and a second side opposite the rounded side, with a pair of acutely V-shaped channels extending along the length of the body. The first rounded side and each of the V-shaped channels preferably form a pair of rounded outer edges therebetween. Each V-shaped channel receives a substantially rectangular edge of a planar member to form a rounded corner such that the planar members are held substantially perpendicular relative to each other, with smooth joints between the outer edges and planar members. The present invention further provides a method of attaching a pair of planar members within acutely V-shaped channels of a corner molding to thereby provide a rounded corner having smooth joints between the planar members and the corner molding.

  • Patent number: 6168212
Abstract: A twist-lock connector for adjustably connecting interlocking telescopic tubular members includes a camming surface on the interior surface of a rotatable member which cooperates with the camming member of a seating member attached to a first tubular member. The twist-lock connector is employed by inserting the male end of a second tubular member inside the female end of a first tubular member to which the seating member is attached, and rotating the rotatable member in a first direction until the camming action causes the engaging surface of the seating member to lock by frictionally engaging the outer surface of the second tubular member. Disconnection of the tubular members is effected by reversing the order of the steps for connection. The twist-lock connector also includes an overtightening protection feature. When the rotatable member is rotated in the first direction relative to the seating member by approximately 180°, the lock is released, but without breakage of the twist-lock connector.

  • Patent number: 6161872
Abstract: A breakaway system for a compressed natural gas fueling hose. The system includes an upper ring that surrounds the fueling hose. A lower portion includes three concentric disks that are arranged as a gimbals. An outer disk is coupled to the upper ring with three rods. The lower portion surrounds a male connector. A female connector, generally of the type known a quick-release connector, is coupled to the fueling hose. When the female connector is connected to the male connector, an outer sleeve of the female connector engages the inner disk of the gimbals. When a lateral force is exerted by the hose against the upper ring, the rods cause at least the outer ring to tilt relative to the male connector. Because of the gimbals arrangement, the inner disk always remains substantially flat and thus exerts a force against the sleeve thereby disconnecting the female connector from the male connector.

  • Patent number: 6145886
Abstract: There is provided a pipe connector connection checking assembly in which it can surely be checked that a male connector is incompletely connected with a female connector. A connection checking member is formed with an ear portion for integrally connecting a pair of claws disposed opposingly and a portion having a low strength formed at a portion except the ear portion, and the claws of the connection checking member are inserted into holes in the female connector. When the connection checking member is pulled outward in the state in which the male connector is incompletely inserted into the female connector, the portion having a low strength is broken before the engagement of the claws is released.
