  • Patent number: 5231389
Abstract: A display control apparatus includes a display control block with plural external connector terminals, and an oscillator block including plural oscillators. The external connector terminals are coupled to a selector for selecting one of the terminals in response to a selection signal applied thereto, with the output of the selector connected to the internal display control circuit via a second gate. A predetermined one of the terminals is coupled via a first gate to the internal display control circuit. The selection signal is coupled to the external connector terminals other than the predetermined terminal via a third gate. When the oscillator block of one type is used, the apparatus operates in a first operating mode, in which the first and third gates are closed and the second gate is opened, and when the oscillator block is of another type, the apparatus operates in a second mode in which the first and third gates are opened and the second gate is closed.

  • Patent number: 5231509
Abstract: A signal processing apparatus for use in a video cassette recorder comprising a pilot burst gate pulse generating system means responsive to horizontal synchronizing signals successively generated in correspondance with horizontal scanning periods to process the horizontal synchronizing signals so as to produce pilot burst gate pulses. The pilot burst gate pulse generating system is responsive to a first horizontal synchronizing signal to generate the pilot burst gate pulse at a timing delayed by a predetemined time period from a leading edge of a second horizontal synchronizing signal following the first horizontal synchronizing signal. This arrangement allows stable generation of the pilot burst gate pulse at a timing slightly delayed from the active edge of the corresponding horizontal synchronizing signal.

  • Patent number: 5229754
Abstract: The prism reflector installed immediately above an indicator's display surface consists of a prism and a flange portion that is flush with one surface of the prism and which extends from the periphery of that surface. The surface of the prism and the flange portion form a reflecting surface. A reflector plate is arranged to face the reflecting surface of the prism reflector and has a concave surface, whose light axis is inclined with respect to the reflecting surface of the prism reflector toward the thicker side of the prism. Light from the indicator's display enters the prism, is refracted as it leaves the reflecting surface, and travels toward the reflector plate's concave surface, which reflects the incident light back toward the reflecting surface of the prism reflector, which then reflects it toward the driver's viewing point.

  • Patent number: 5227771
Abstract: A window displayed on a user interface can be incrementally enlarged or reduced by selecting an appropriate sizing icon. There are provided an enlarge icon and a reduce icon in the window title bar. To resize the window, the user selects the appropriate icon with the cursor. The window will change its border size according to a predetermined incremental value. The data that is displayed inside of the newly sized window is determined and then displayed. By continuously selecting one of the sizing icons, the window will be continuously sized in an incremental manner until the user terminates the selection or until the maximum or minimum window limits are reached. As the window is resized, the cursor remains attached to the selected icon. During resizing of the window, one border corner is fixed in position on the interface while the opposite border corner is moved.

  • Patent number: 5223920
Abstract: A television receiver includes a frequency multiplexed video processor which processes chrominance and luminance signals in response to synchronously detected composite video information. The composite video signal is separated into a plurality of frequency spectra which are individually processed utilizing digital electronic circuitry to achieve high performance and cost effectiveness. A comb filter is operative within one of the processors to provide separation of the luminance and chrominance information within the chrominance signal bandpass to maintain high frequency luminance signal components. A separate processor and bandpass filter are operative to provide separate control of the luminance peaking within the system. Conventional luminance and chrominance processing converts the output signals of the multiplexed processor to RGB video signals which are applied to a conventional cathode ray tube display having a conventional deflection system associated therewith.

  • Patent number: 5223947
Abstract: A video noise reduction system is incorporated with a video recorder for the elimination of high frequency noise from only the gray level portions of a video signal being retrieved from magnetic tape. The frequency modulated video signal retrieved from the tape is directed through a demodulator into a voltage dependent low pass filter having a cutoff frequency which is normally sufficiently high to pass the unmodulated video signal from the demodulator without attenuation. The frequency modulated video signal is also fed into a band elimination filter having an attenuation band corresponding to the gray level of brightness. The output from the band elimination filter is detected, and a variable voltage is impressed to the low pass filter for lowering its cutoff frequency whenever the frequency modulated video signal has gray frequencies. Alternate embodiments are disclosed in which the cutoff frequency is lowered to different preselected values for different levels of brightness.

  • Patent number: 5206631
Abstract: In a display device having a plurality of scanning-side electrodes arranged in one direction, a plurality of data-side electrodes arranged in a second direction intersection the first direction, and dielectric layers interposed therebetween, a modulated voltage the magnitude of which is varied according to the emission or non-emission of light is applied to the data-side electrodes, while applying a write voltage in line sequential fashion to the scanning-side electrodes, thereby performing the display control. In such a display device, the polarity of the voltage applied between the data-side electrode and the scanning-side electrode corresponding to the picture element to be driven for light emission is reversed one or more times during the period in which the write voltage is being applied to the scanning-side electrode. This serves to reduce the modulated voltage and the write voltage, thus contributing to the reduction in power consumption.
