  • Patent number: 9319568
Abstract: In the processor device connected to the endoscope, the imaging signal transmitted in serial from an imaging chip of the endoscope is converted by an S/P converter to parallel data, and is then decoded by an 8B10B decoder. When data corruption occurs due to noise or the like during transmission of the imaging signal and normal pixel data cannot be obtained due to decode error at an 8B10B decoder, that pixel data is interpolated with pixel data of a peripheral part in an inner memory of an image processing circuit.

  • Patent number: 9280042
Abstract: Techniques for controlling switching of a barrier component for efficiently displaying various types of 2-D content and 3-D content on a projector screen are presented. A barrier control component detects an optical signal in a control region of the projector screen that is providing visual content to the barrier component, and identifies the type of visual content, such as 2-D content or 3-D autostereoscopic content, based on the optical signal. The barrier control component identifies a control signal based on the identified content type, and transmits the control signal to the barrier component via a wireline or wireless connection. The barrier component is controlled to automatically switch to a desired mode, such as 2-D mode or 3-D autostereoscopic mode, and employ a desired barrier pattern, in response to the received control signal. The barrier component is powered using a solar cell component that generates power using the optical signal.

  • Patent number: 9282329
Abstract: Encoding and decoding methods are presented that used offset-based adaptive reconstruction levels. The offset data is inserted in the bitstream with the encoded video data. The offset data may be differential data and may be an index to an array of offset values from which the differential offset is calculated by the decoder. The offset to an adaptive reconstruction level may be adjusted for each slice. The offsets may be specific to a particular level/index and data type. In some cases, offsets may only be sent for a subset of the levels. Higher levels may apply no offset, may apply an average offset, or may apply the offset used for the highest level having a level-specific offset.

  • Patent number: 9269160
Abstract: A method is described for indicating an outcome of a sports action by determining a trajectory of a game-object. In football, the trajectory of the football determines the outcome of a field goal attempt. A television viewer has difficulty seeing if the ball passes between the uprights or not, especially if the ball is kicked higher than the uprights. By tracking the trajectory, virtual insertions such as extended goal posts, or goal posts colored to reflect the success or not of the attempt, can be inserted in a video feed. By tracking the flight of the ball from the time it is set in motion, the balls future trajectory is predicted after a short elapsed time, and the television audience is informed of the outcome before it has happened.

  • Patent number: 9264690
Abstract: Conversion of interleaved data and/or correction of color samples or other data are corrected by recognizing an underlying arrangement or format of different data sets within a data stream and a conversion process applied that causes bleeding between the sets. The data sets are, for example, separate channel views of a 3D display, and the corruption occurs, for example, upon up-conversion of color samples that take into account both views together rather than individually. The invention is embodied, for example, as part of a playback device, display, or as a stand alone converter box that corrects the corrupted samples by at least one of substitution, filtering, or interpolation with appropriately selected samples (e.g., neighboring samples of a same view).
