  • Patent number: 9698636
Abstract: A brushless motor includes: a rotor including a magnet; and a stator including at its center a space for placing the rotor. The rotor includes: a rotor core; and a plurality of magnets. The rotor core includes a plurality of magnet holders radially formed around a rotating shaft. The magnets are housed in the magnet holders such that the same magnetic poles of adjacent magnets face each other in a circumferential direction of the rotor core, and the stator includes a plurality of teeth formed toward the center to face the rotor. Given that a radius of curvature of an outer circumference of the rotor core is R, a width of an end of the teeth in a circumferential direction is W, and a maximum outer diameter of the rotor core is L, 0.9?R/W?4.2 and R<L/2 are met.

  • Patent number: 9673667
Abstract: A permanent magnet electrical machine includes a stator having conductive windings wound thereon and one or more permanent magnets embedded in the stator. A magnetic keeper element is positioned on the stator so as to form a magnetic flux path with the permanent magnets, with the magnetic keeper element closing the magnetic flux path of the permanent magnets by providing a low reluctance flux path to magnetic flux generated by the permanent magnets. A vacuum pressure impregnation (VPI) process is performed on the stator to increase a thermal conductivity of the windings, with the VPI process including a curing step that is performed at a selected temperature. The magnetic keeper element sets an operating point of the permanent magnets to an internal flux density level above a demagnetization threshold associated with the selected temperature at which the curing step is performed.

  • Patent number: 9634547
Abstract: A shaft seal assembly is disclosed having a stator including a main body and axial and radial projections therefrom. The rotor may be radially extended to encompass the axial and radial projections from said stator. A passageway formed between the radial projection of stator and rotor results in an axial passageway having its opening facing rearwardly from the rotor and away from the source of impinging coolant and/or contaminant. A concentric circumferential receptor groove in the stator facing the housing allows insertion of a conductive insert for transmission of electrostatic charge away from the shaft through the shaft seal assembly to the housing and ground. The receptor groove is opposite the axial passageway and provides for both a substantially lower contaminant environment and improved engagement with the conductive insert.
