  • Patent number: 6536371
Abstract: A rotary direction indicator provided for use with a rotating element which causes the rotation of an associated member. The rotary direction indicator has an internally compliant body fixed in a normal to a central axis which has formed thereon a pair of arrows which appear to be three-dimensional moving in a clockwise direction. One of the three-dimensional arrows appears to plunge into the surface of the body while the other of three-dimensional arrows appear to rise out of the surface of the body thereby providing a visual indication of a correspondence between the direction of rotation of the rotary element and the movement of the associated member.

  • Patent number: 6526907
Abstract: A flow indicating device including a tube, a turbine wheel, and a cylinder is described. The tube defines a flow path. The turbine wheel is mounted in the tube for rotation alongside an inside wall of the tube. The turbine wheel has a plurality of turbine blades. The cylinder is mounted outside the tube for rotation alongside an outside wall of the tube. The cylinder is magnetically coupled to the turbine wheel through the sidewall of the tube so that rotation of the turbine wheel causes rotation of the cylinder. A visually observable pattern is provided on an outside surface of the cylinder so that rotation of the cylinder can be visually ascertained. The device is easy to install and provides an indication of flow within the pipe which is highly visible, easy to read, and viewable from any location around the pipe.

  • Patent number: 6516529
Abstract: A stylus has a detection element support part 1E for supporting and fixing piezoelectric elements 21 to 24 and a rod 1D placed on the detection element support part 1E. The detection element support part 1E has a plurality of flange parts 1F each being regular polygonal in cross section orthogonal to the axis of the rod 1D. The displacement detection elements are attached to the sides of the flange parts 1F in a state in which they are inclined at a predetermined angle &agr; relative to the axis of the rod 1D. If a measured force in a torsion direction Q or in a bend direction P occurs on the rod 1D through a contact ball 1A, the measured force is transmitted along substantially the length direction of the piezoelectric elements 21 to 24.

  • Patent number: 6516527
Abstract: A digital inclinometer detects an inclination angle by sensing varying conductive current of various electrodes. When the inclinometer is rotated through an inclination angle, various segments of the sensing electrodes become immersed in a conductive fluid causing varying conductive currents to these sensing electrodes. A driving signal is applied to driving of electrode and the sensing side of electrodes is kept at a constant voltage by connecting them to an analog ground or to current sensing amplifier which maintains virtual ground during measurement to achieve an equipotential at both sides of the sensor plates. An Analog to Digital converter, microprocessor, and LCD display achieves a digital readout. Novel methods allow 360-degree precise measurements, while overcoming traditional limitations and errors due to fringe effects, non-linearity, and various environmental changes.

  • Patent number: 6517376
Abstract: A positioning-sounding device for a card puller, it generates a sound when an inserting and extracting member (an extended card) in the card puller is inserted in position to make sure that the member has been in position. Wherein, a sounding device is mounted in a slide groove of an insertion seat and has a slide block and an elastic element both can slide in the slide groove; thereby, when the inserting and extracting member is moved inwardly of a channel of the insertion seat, it drives the slide block inwardly to compress the elastic element. When the inserting and extracting member is in position, the slide block is abutted against and is released from the inserting and extracting member and is elastically restored to its original position by the elastic element to collide with the inner wall of the slide groove indicating that the inserting and extracting member is surely inserted in position.

  • Patent number: 6516534
Abstract: A measurable guide actuator is used to integrate a driving mechanism, a guide mechanism, and a position measuring member so as to form an integral simplifying construction, thereby facilitating the usage and thereby reducing consumption of material. The measurable guide actuator of the present invention uses a U-shaped guide track to function as the guide mechanism. The driving mechanism uses a screw or a belt. The position measuring member includes a ruler body mounted in the guide mechanism, and a reading head sealed in the sliding table to slide therewith so that the position measuring member can be used to measure the displacement position values.

  • Patent number: 6513252
Abstract: A compass compensation system is provided for automatically continuously calibrating an electronic compass for a vehicle, without requiring an initial manual calibration or preset of the vehicle magnetic signature. The system initially adjusts a two axis sensor of the compass in response to a sampling of at least one initial data point. The system further calibrates the compass by sampling data points that are substantially opposite to one another on a plot of a magnetic field and averaging an ordinate of the data points to determine a respective zero value for the Earth magnetic field. The system also identifies a change in magnetic signature and adjusts the sensor assembly.

  • Patent number: 6481114
Abstract: A finger ring shim is comprised of a member for being wedged between a loose ring and a finger. A groove on the member is arranged for cradling the ring. The groove has a width which is selected to receive a ring of a particular thickness. The member has a shim thickness which is selected to match a gap size between the ring and the finger. A tool for determining the proper groove width and shim thickness is comprised of an elongated and tapered sheet with a scale along an edge, and slots of graduated widths. The sheet is inserted between a finger and a ring until it is snug. The point on the scale under the ring is correlated with a suitable shim thickness, and the smallest slot which the ring can fit into shows the suitable groove width.
